The Grinter Award ... New for 2013?

Featured Replies

I guess the first nominee would be for Jack Viney and his assault on the man mountain Leigh Brown at training?

i am looking at that picture right now. Leigh Brown is bigger than a man mountain!!

How did the club ever expect to win games against blokes like Brown by recruiting choirboys??

No wonder our second halves were often so bad.

"Big Blokes don't get shorter in the last quarter" Jack Dyer

Is the award for acts of bravery or stupid [censored] that gets you rubbed out?

Acts of bravery of course but I would also include instances where our players are able to hurt the opposition within the bounds of fair play. Elbows to the head is not something we want to see but if there's an opportunity to make a an opposition player know they are in for a tough day, then I'd like to see a lot more of that type of thing from these new Demons. Flying the flag when a teammate comes in for rough treatment goes without saying.

This style of play has become second nature at Hawthorn and I think Clarkson is on record as saying that they will wear the odd occasion when players get a week here or there for 'walking the line'.

At the end of each game, supporters should have a good idea of who will be worthy of votes.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
