Our Best 18

Strauss in before Rivers ?? I think not

I do rate Rivers, but I don't think he is a great option at either FB or CHB. I am always saying that we are too top heavy and need more smalls, especially in the backline. I can't very well spend the entire year saying that and then load us up with more talls, can I? I probably should have found room on the bench.

Good effort RalphMaximus but that 'midfield' makes me wince.

As I said, the midfield is really hard to pick. The sad truth is that aside from Jones it's a matter of who is going to do less harm. Also, I just noticed that I left Sylvia out. Oops.

FB Rivers Frawley D NIcholson

HB Grimes T Mcdonald J Watts

C Jones Trengrove S Blease

HF Howe Martin Syliva

FF Jurrah Clark Garland

R Jamar, Gysberts Mckenzie

Int Bail Tapscott Jetta, Strauss

Thats How I would line then up if I had full side to choose

Still this side would get flogged in the midfield lacking class, pace, spread

Foward line could be dangerous at times, missing quick FB Jetta to fill the role for time being

Garland must play up foward, cost us to much down back to many errors

And yeah did i say we need Classy Midfielders??

Yes we can pick a best 18. That dont mean nothing if we aint good enough. Which we aint. The reality is we dont have enough players to contest to be a top 8 side. The reason is, we dont have the cattle and some of our guys are still in development faze and you cant expect them to be stars.

Petterd, Morton, Dunn, Bate are just a few whom havent lived up to expectation. Im sure they try there best and on potential they might have looked good, however they havent delivered.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
