Well, why not? We've turned up on Queens Birthday in past years when no-one expected us to, 2007 & 2010 in particular. Great grinding, hard fought win tonight, bring that pressure and intensity next week and there's no reason we can't go toe-to-toe with the Pies especially with Neeld and Brown's inside knowledge of some of their players.

Hopefully Frawley's back and Garland can stay up forward to see if he can build on tonight's game, might throw a few spanners in the works and test Buckley out. It gives us some flexibility too with option of swinging Watts and Garland at either end and Clark able to go into the ruck which is good as we need options instead of being one dimensional with our KPP's.

GO YOU MIGHTY DEMONS

Was so pumped in the last quarter tonight and so happy for the boys and Neeld to get the monkey off the back. They need to build on this now and play some smarter football (too many players going up is my main gripe) but let's savour the win for the moment. Hopefully we can enjoy this this week and not find things to slag off the club about - we are all Demons supporters after all and we should all be ecstatic after knocking off those stinking Bombres tonight!

Go redlegs, but I'm hoping for another four quarter performance. We've only done it once this year. If we continue to do it and put in the effort we did tonight, we'll be moving in the right direction.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
