Stef Martin - The Debate

Featured Replies

Stef Martin is no longer part of the game plan - that's my opinion and I wanted to start a genial discussion about where this boy's at.

I base my contention on the lack of improvement over the last five years.

No footy smarts, terrible kick, lack of awareness and refuses to play a disciplined game.

Delist or trade.

Very bad call.

Last year he had a break-out season, played terrifically in the absense of Jamar, both in the ruck and as a swing-man.

He plays a CRITICAL role in the team, because we are desperately in need of a back-up ruckman for Jamar and a big body to sit forward to assist Clark. At the moment Sellar is playing that role in Martin's absense (very poorly mind you) and will be moved out as soon as big stef comes back in.

The only reason for his poor start to the season is a hip injury.

That was last year.

Granted he's been injured, but for mine, he plays like a millionaire, without regard for teammates around him.

Every time he gets that ball, it's like watching The Office - cringeworthy.

I agree that Sellar has been a disappointment, but it's time for new blood.

Please use the Stefan Martin thread in the locker room. Its on page 2. Thread closed

Forget the haunting of Round 11 — we’ve got this. Melbourne returns to its inner-city fortress for its milestone 100th AFLW match, carrying a formidable 10–2 record at IKON Stadium. Brisbane’s record at the venue is more balanced: 4 wins, 4 losses and a draw.

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
