CRISIS OF CONFIDENCE

Featured Replies

I think Davey will start as the sub, I don't believe he can get a through a full game, Tapscott to start and likely to sub him out into the third quarter. My line up

Bartram Sellar Frawley

Morton Rivers Garland

Bate Grimes Trengove

Howe Watts McDonald

Tapscott Clark Dunn

Jamar Jones Magner

Martin McKenzie Bail

Davey

Wow, considering you see the game differently to the rest of us, I might have to snap up some of that $4 being offered for a Melbourne win. Will "probably" win wouldn't fill me with confidence if I were a Toiges supporter, especially coming from your keyboard BH!

Sellars MUST play on Vickery when he goes forward. I'm one of very few that actually sees a lot of potential in Vickery, and from memory, both games last year against us he was their main forward (due to the standard Frawley job on Reiwoldt). Jury's out for me with Sellar, but they've come back after brief deliberation regarding Rivers and it aint flash.

I have to say that Petterd needs to lift his intensity and actually go and get the ball. While it is hard to criticse our forwards at the moment, due to the standard of our midfield, when you play on the half forward flank like Petterd does (and is best suited), you need to be just as effective in the midfield, and be able to generate your own possession. He and Howe are, in my view, fighting for the same spot, especially when Sylvia comes back, and I honestly believe Howe does more than Ricky Bobby.

I agree but I wanted Rivers Deep (Mountain high sorry) for Rivers to come across 3rd man cover for Chip.

So I think we need Riv in the side, so for the whole team balance, I had Sellar on the interchange, but many things could happen, Morton may start as sub: or Bate again. so Sellar could be in.

Agree, I cam imagine Ricky being a Spontaneous type player, would take a bit of time to feel the freedom he needs, in such a structured game style, to actually let loose & go for his footy free minded.

.

How tough are our Selectors when anyone dropped goes straight on to the Emg list for the game. Last week Davey this week Green.

Davey wasn't dropped last week, of this I'm sure.

Think what of that re Green, as you will.

If that were the Case, I would start with the hard bodied Tapscott, then switch after half time.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
