Sub Rule and Dreamteam/Supercoach/Ultimate Footy

I'm not complaining about the rule but I am hating on it hard at the moment for a different reason!

My supercoach, dreamteam and ultimate footy team have all been rooted because of it!

I had Connors and Foley both in my team combined for [censored] all possies, and I can tell you through out the year this will actually wreck games!

It's semi- reasonable for the Friday game because you find out about the sub an hour before the game but for every other game they only have to name it the hour before their game thus no way for us to change it.

I'm blaming it if I have bad fantasy years :D

Yes it's a tricky one. Unless you're glues to your computer screen or Iphone all weekend trying to glean information, it's pot luck.

Even then you can't be sure. Neil Craig talked up Andy Otten as a sub for tonight's game but apparently he started.

Throws a real spanner in the works and means that you're 7th, 8th, 9th players in each position need to be getting games.

Ps ... Try not to get the sh1ts with Foley. Apparently he was already doing plenty of that himself!

It sucks, but that's part of the skill, at least in Ultimate footy. You have to take your backups seriously. I have 3 great centers.... and one more really good one I could trade easily, but I'm keeping him for the three weeks I lose the other ones.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
