I would like to see Watts running with Goodes and Jones to tag K Jack. Would be a very good learning curve for Watts to see what it takes to be an elite player at AFL level. Jones, I would have him stick to K Jack like glue and pester the crap out of him all day. Any other thoughts?????????????

Interesting thoughts, DemonOx. I would prefer Rivers to get a run-with role if Goodes plays forward. Watts to play a linking role, like a fat side quarterback - playing forward of centre.

It may be a good 'learning experience'...but a better learning experience is to play the way the coach wants the team to play when they win. If we are 10 goals down at 3/4 time, then OK - switch away.

Jones in a negating role? Sounds fine. Pester and grunt, and leave the delivery to the Rolls Royces cruising by.

This game will be a big test of our intensity - Sydney are such pains around the ball, but if we don't win here, its over, red rover.

keiran jack should not be tagged rather, hannebery or josh kennedy

and garland should/will play on goodes, who is likely to start at centre half.

would be silly to be experimenting with a forward player as a defender in round one, although learning about goodes work ethic, they would just throw him deep into the forwardline which is where watts would be destroyed.

Forget the haunting of Round 11 — we’ve got this. Melbourne returns to its inner-city fortress for its milestone 100th AFLW match, carrying a formidable 10–2 record at IKON Stadium. Brisbane’s record at the venue is more balanced: 4 wins, 4 losses and a draw.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
