This oval was talked about as the best conditioned ground in Victoria during the pre-season. What happened????

Heavy rains,,, of the like we haven't seen I think for a decade???

More suited, & probably designed for drier conditions. I'd suggest that, If these rains become more frequent then the curators will have to alter the make up & treatment of the soil going forward. There is a lot of moisture holding ability in that soil.

There will be alot more to contend with after yesterday and today's rain. 50mm expected.

I don't think they'll be able to do much this season other than manage the games played.

I'd like to see them do the drainage lines & a lot of course sand above the aggi lines as well as core drill the whole ground & add sand to the core holes, just to reduce the amount of organic matter in the soil.

Almost sounds contradictory doesn't it (organic), but I think they have to get the balance of moisture retention right for both summer & winter.
