I think the top 8 could be just about settled come early July.

1Geelong - 48

2 Collingwood - 44

3Fremantle - 44

4St_Kilda - 36

5W_Bulldogs - 32

6Carlton - 32

7Hawthorn - 32

8Brisbane - 32

------------

9Sydney - 24

10Essendon - 24

11 P_Adelaide - 24

12Kangaroos - 24

13 Melbourne - 16

14W_Coast - 16

15Adelaide - 16

16Richmond - 4

How do you think it may pan out?

Did my own ladder predictor to end of Round 14

Took some big guesses at some but came out with:

1 Geelong - 48

2 Freo - 44

3 Collingwood - 44

4 Carlton - 40

5 Bulldogs - 36

6 StKilda - 36

7 Sydney - 28

8 Essendon - 28

9 Brisbane - 28

10 Hawthorn - 24

11 Port - 24

12 North - 20

13 Melbourne - 16

So what I pretty much predicted before I did it came true.

1. I don't think it will be locked in, although I think they're will be less teams still in with a chance than I've predicted.

2. I haven't predicted another win for us in this time frame, but think we are some chance to get one.

3. You clearly rate the hawks and don't rate the dons. I don't think there is much between them, and have predicted the dons to beat them when they meet again soon. That is obviously a game that will have a big impact.

4. Carlton's next 4. Melb (MGG), North (Etihad), Freo (Etihad), Bris (Etihad). I've shamefully tipped them to go 4-0. They really could. They draw doesn't get horribly harder after that as well. Paying $4 to make the top 4 but will need to boost percentage and beat all teams including Freo in the next 4 weeks.

IMO at this stage the Hawks have a superior list to the Dons. They have IMO the best forwardline, the equal to most midfield, & get thin down back. So I have them marginally stronger ATM over the Dons.

I think the Blues, when the acid is applied, will struggle to make further headway with their forwardline & defence.

Interesting.

I'd be thrilled if we snuck away with 2 wins out of the next 4. We'd be 6 and 8 and still at least sort of in the hunt for a finals berth.

I'm hoping to see as FEW games as possible at the end of the season where we're just managing the list and going for development. If we can rack up the 11th loss in round 19 or so, the last 3 would be fine by me.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
