Making it up as they go. Wow.

While Ablett is obviously a star, who will decide the stars from the non-stars? Is a semi-star worth 1.5 draft picks? What a joke. Everybody knew the rules and every team should have started securing their players long ago. Now they change the rules?!

    Just make top-of-the-range players off limits from being contacted by GC17.

    If Ablett wants to bail on Geelong by his own accord, so be it. At least then the burden of losing a player will be stacked mostly on the individual and not the league or GC17.

    Regardless, I can't see GC17's recruitment drive being successful anyway. All they will poach is inconsistent middleweights and journeymen that other clubs will be glad to get rid of.

    It was pretty clear that the concessions were set in stone, and everyone knew what they were.

    I agree that they don't fairly compensate Clubs in some circumstances, but either you have the objective rules or you have a panel make subjective assessments for each players (perhaps with a range they can choose from, a la judges and sentence guidelines).
