I don't think McDonald's leadership has worked cos he hasn't performed well enough on the ground. We don't need another captain like that IMO.

I think the latter part of 2009 after McDonald finally said goodbye to his niggles his leadership shone through out on the ground. Off the ground he was reportedly second-to-none in terms of off-field leadership.

The state of the list and the form and on-going changes to the make-up of the team through injury/selection; compounding injury troubles; was always going to make it difficult for a positive report in relation to McDonald's leadership and hence the teams performance in 2009.

On balance, I think what has transpired in 2009 can only add mettle to McDonald's leadership qualities in 2010; and it's probably a bit premature to say it hasn't worked, considering your endorsement of a lack of leaders under him.
