Daniel Wells - Trade

What ?

I don't want Wells in case there's any confusion. I want the best player available at pick 11. We need talls, but if it's considered that the best available at 11 isn't a tall then I don't want to "punt" on a tall.

On a slightly separate note, are we overestimating our need for talls (forwards)?

Could we not challenge for a premiership with Watts, Bate and Jurrah as the three talls?

I look at Geelong and they have only two big talls in their side (of questionable quality), same with St Kilda (high quality).

If Watts becomes as good as we think he will, do we really need another tall clogging his space? Of course there is always the issue of placing all your eggs into one basket.

just one more Jaded, Aussie Panos LJ

Bate Watts Sylvia ( talls smalls and mids)

and in our established back line plus new look midfield and hey presto

Some might, thats OK, but not me. I commit to a strategy & stick by the decision, if it doesn't work out you do something different.

I don't think a pick @ 11 is to big a risk.

??

Read H.'s post.

It's not about the pick, it is about the idea that it will be a premeditated pick of a tall regardless of whether that player is the 11th best or not.

Pick the best available is what is being said.

This thread is a chore.

Pick the best available is what is being said.

Just a couple of points.

First, best available is a rubbery term.

Second, the Club - BP and/or DB - have said they'd like a tall and it seems there won't be one in the top two.

Talk seems to suggest there'll be some decent talls left around the 11 mark and if so, I'll be surprised if we don't take one.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
