Ever since his return to the Melbourne side in round 12, Chris Johnson has blossomed from half-back, growing in confidence every match.

In round 13, he quelled the influence of key Sydney forward Ryan O'Keefe, following up with a career-best 33 disposals in Melbourne's stunning one-point win against the Brisbane Lions. In his past four rounds, Johnson has accumulated 108 touches, at an average of 27 touches per match.

I cant believe people suggested trading him!!

Sure he gets heap of touches, but it's what you do with it that matters.

If he uses it effectively, and can competently hit a target, then he gets another contract.

Sounds like he's been one of our 'good news' stories for the year.

It feels so good when my strong strong faith is rewarded, only doubted him once (after nth game) but two days later I was back supporting him. Perfect for our teams gameplan.

I love being wrong as well (re Garland) but it feels better when you were on from the start.

Lets just hope he continues this way.

He has definately been hitting targets, just look at his efficiency rating, I think his skills are his best asset.

He could be more damaging though, thats the next step for him, needs to be able to push up and set up/kick goals.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
