Youngsters shine against Roos

After kicking seven goals to one in the first quarter, North Melbourne held off our undermanned team to record a 28-point victory.

Youngsters Simon Buckley and Shane Valenti were among the best against the Roos, while school boy Addam Maric showed some promising signs in his debut game.

The gallant effort was despite the absence of key trio Brad Green, Paul Wheatley and Austin Wonaeamirri, who are all a chance to return for this weekend's clash with Essendon at the MCG.

In further good news for the Club, acting co-captain James McDonald has signed a new one-year contract, and will pull on the boots for his 13th season in 2009
