9 HD in Northern States

Hi all. Frequent reader, seldom poster. Anyway this is primarily for all those in the northern states with a HD set top box

Much to my surprise, while flicking through the channels on Thursday, I switched over to win (9) HD and found they were streaming the AFL footy show when the NRL footy show was on normal Win (9). I called a mate of mine in Bris and he found the same thing up there. Believe me, although it cops a fair bit of flack from those who get it all the time, it is a massive jump up from the NRL version. As an aside I mentioned this to a mate @ work on Friday and he casually told me this has been the case for ages and watched it every Thursday. Typical Tassie fan

I also checked last night, and Win HD had Footy Classified due to start @ 10.30. It wasn’t broadcast due to the Hewitt game, but I think for all those long suffering Dees fans from the northern states, you no longer have to wait up till past midnight or set a tape to watch these shows.

Good onya Byron! Good luck to our supporters in the North too.

Been watchin TFS for a couple of weeks up here now. Certainly is a lot better than watchin the league tripe. Wat day is footy classified on? If only now the other channels could broadcast dees games when a Lions or Swans game is on both free to air and foxtel...but that is wishful thinking

Thanks going to have to get that.

Yeah i agree the AFL Footy Show is way better than the league one

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
