His third goal – late in the final term – sealed the Demons’ win, sending the Melbourne faithful into a frenzy. Davey said he couldn’t have been happier to repay the loyal fans who turned up to voice their support for the club.

“Something that really stood out for me was the crowd today, the way our supporters really got behind us and really showed their true colours,” he said.

“Running out to see that many loyal supporters waving their flags around and the roar, it nearly brought tears to my eyes just running out through the banner.

“That’s just super, and I hope they can keep doing that week in, week out.”

    I was thinking the same thing, what it would be like for them to run out onto the G after putting in 6 consecutive heart-less performances, yet see such a passionate, albeit small, group of fans still come to the game.
