  1. No worries - ask away about opinions - just there are different ways of doing so Agree on whoever is in there having a crack - and that in doing so it leads to more cracking results
  2. Not sure who or what rattled your cage but two things are clear: a) clearly quantity doesn't always mean you should expect quality. In posts that is..... and b) you should read before quoting others in future. I stand by my comment wholeheartedly - I am aware JKH has been playing well in the 2's but in my opinion is not up to the quality of football we have played the last 2 weeks. And I hope he's not picked.
  3. No matter how well he's been playing in the 2's - the thought of JKH in is depressing especially after last week. Its a little like fitting roof racks on your brand new Ferrari. Pointless, looks bad and reduces the overall performance....
  4. One of my favourite moments of today was seeing the look of joy and causal confidence on watts face when he kicked that goal at half time. It was a huge goal for us I think to stop a momentum shift and the fact he just went back and slotted it no fuss was just so good the see. I think he's a good barometer to watch for the club - the fact jack is so comfortable in his own skin shows just how comfortable and quietly confident the rest of the team is as a unit.
  5. Cannot believe no one has lewis in there....like Jetta last week. 6 hibberd 5 oliver 4 omac 3 lewis 2 watts 1 Salem
  6. What's not to love about this club. And even more so now we've put on a full game performance. With gawn and hogan in - gee we look special. And the smiles / determination and commoradorie are all so incredibly positive to see. Two huge wins. Love this club.
  7. This was so crystal clear he would have a cracker youd have to have been a little slow (like those that called for him to be dropped last week.....), blind or know nothing about football to think otherwise. was great to see the support for him this morning and even better to see some d's supporters eating humble pie post his awesome efforts today. He's huge for us as an expiericend leader to a team of young guns. Love the man and this club.
  8. loving the support for lewis here today and expectations of him having a belter - couldn't agree more! go dees!
  9. Only issue is - and be great to get views of someone that was there - that reading between the lines on his match review from last week was that he was alright in the hitouts but stunk it up around the ground and is prob a big part of why they left him out - not sure we really need that at present vs doing what we have been doing absent a ruck this year. Think giving him another week has been a good idea.
  10. Surprise surprise lewis wasn't dropped to all those haters from last week (still some of the more ridiculous posts of the year)... and i'd wager he has a cracker this week and will be (as always this year) very important for us as an experienced head in what will be a tough game. im pumped for this one - realise it's a very tough ask off the back of last week vs what will be a determined doggies but it's a great test for us and I see no reason we shouldn't be expecting a cheeky win here as under dogs (no pun intended). Go the d's!
  11. Jetta did not have a bad first half. Nor did Hannan, jones, watts or garlett. At the least.........
  12. Are you serious??? He's a legend. In every meaning of the word. If he'd been played earlier this year we'd be even more solidified in the 8.
  13. You know what? I bloody love this footy club. And have ever since the age of 5 even though the AFL wasn't a thing and I lived in SA. And I always will ever since watching a group of super heroes dressed in blue and red win on a grainy telly in the adelaide hills mid winter. And super heroes they have been ever since - even through our plentiful losing times when I've cursed them in swearing tantrum moments either in a school yard or at home amongst a group of vocal carlton supporting brothers or at the footy or basically anywhere that people care about aussie rules footy and I've vehmently defended the beloved d's as the oldest and still greatest club in the country. Through all the passion and all the pain I've been there. And always will regardless of what of anyone thinks. Friend of foe. For the red and the blue have always been and always will be the greatest sporting club anyone could have the pleasure of being a part of. Yet despite the fact we don't need any outside validation - our passion and knowledge is more than enough - I have to say it's been so pleasing to see both friend and foe, media and the average footy follower, saying that based on the heroics of last week by modern day heroes like watts and trac and jones and viney and oliver and everyone really (including that young jeffy bloke whose faster than lightening only nearly matched for speed by that very young guy with the headband) who contributed to one of the greatest mid season wins of the past decade. Calls and comments of "passion" "trac was so awesome" "launching pad" "Oliver's a bull" "I'm going the d's" "jack's come of age" "wow" from the media and opposition players and the public over the past 72 hours has made me so smug and so proud. I truly feel something special has happened last weekend with this year and this club; both in the players, supporters and football public alike. It's like everyone loves the way we play and want us to succeed all of a sudden. And I think it's not just deserved - but so bloody exciting. And makes me proud to (as always) be a supporter of this great club. Go the d's. As always: I love this footy club.
  14. Just looked through the thread post voting saw this and the rest of the votes - can't believe it either! First half especially - so solid.
  15. Petracca watts jones oliver viney jetta *now that the ringing in the ears has finally stopped and my heart beat has slowed a little - im able to remember a bit more of the earlier stages of the game and thought Jetta was super solid (as always) and helped stopped their flow several times when we were really struggling to do so. He's such a lock of a player for us.
  16. Totally agree - can't believe there have been posts suggesting he's dropped! I suspect the same people would call for oliver or trac to be dropped if they had a quiet week....ease up indeed. He's a big part of our backline structure and will be so important as an experienced voice to an inexperienced team during clutch games and (touch wood) finals.
  17. Awesome win. In that second half we looked like a team that deserves a top 6 spot or better. Trac and watts so good - and Jones fought the good fight for us in the first half when we struggled in the stoppages. Then viney in the second half was awesome - I think he was a big factor in our turn around today. For a first live game at the g in years - it doesn't get much better than that!
  18. Apologies is this has been up anywhere else on the site - but in honor of The Big Freeze today and given that it's such a great cause headed by a great part of the MFC community, thought I should put this up for Neale. Absolute Gold. Cant wait to get to the ground - first game back in Melbourne for several years. Butterflies in the stomach that's rumbling for a win, a few beers and a pie. The fact it's supporting a great cause makes it even better. Go the d's!
  19. Finally some recognition he's one of the recruits of the year from someone outside the footy club. Great to see. This is from afl websites list of players in contention for all Australian mid way through the year. melb = garlett, hibberd, Jetta, oliver
  20. I know the devil is in the detail but if you are to look at the high level stats - gee both teams are close. Other than the obvious - our better percentage and maringally more contested possessions and more materially their better than avg hit outs (45 filth, 29 d's) and marks (106 filth, 94 d's) - we look very closely matched up. Both of a win too. Having in spencer would help fix up those two key differences (marks / hit outs) and allow watts / Peddo to take more contested / uncontested in the forward 50. I'm pretty excited about seeing watts especially released up forward after a weeks needed rest and the difference that makes to our forward structure. I think it's going to be a cracker of a game Monday.
  21. Dunn. It's all in the name. Just like his team will be come Monday evening next week.
  22. Not sure what I want out of today's freeo vs the Filth contest - upside of a Dockers loss will be making sure we're right behind them with a much better percentage but the big downside will be a collywobbles team on 20 points with some increasing confidence. I think they are much more of a concern than either of the WA teams. I think no matter what, Fremantle are pretty rubbish and will fall out the 8 by years end (like west coast will too). So having a charged up filth with tails up for second half the year my not be the best outcome for us or the saints. Might be better to see them keep losing. Either way - it's not a huge game that will effect our season and we just need to keep winning and not worry about everyone else - but just an interesting internal battle about today's outcome.
  23. Bugg and ANB have both been literally shanking it....off the boot. Surely they can't claim par rounds.
