  1. ? Rd 19 conceded 93 against the Suns Rd 20 conceded 104 ago the Tigers Rd 21 They put Carlton away early before letting them back in.
  2. Johnathan Brown performed an all time grub manoeuvre by grabbing someone in a headlock from behind, swinging them to the ground before landing on top of them. Was charged with rough play but go off because the quarter had actually finished so technically play had stopped. It’s been going on for a while now.
  3. If his eyes were solely on the ball how did he manage to turn his body just in time. We only have to look at some of Nick Riewoldt’s to understand what eyes on the ball really means.
  4. I don’t recall the Ryder incident, what year was this? Thanks
  5. Saints rolled the Lions late last year in Brisbane by 32 points. Then earlier this year the Lions led by 3 points at 3/4 time before going on to win by 23 points.
  6. Putting aside the “one week at a time”….. Obviously we need to win out last two games to finish 2nd. In addition we need the Swans to beat Collingwood this Sunday, the other factor is percentage. Sydney play Collingwood and the Saints, Saints are still a chance to play finals although it seems unlikely. I think we can beat Brisbane next week but it may not be as easy as it was after the bye. This Saturday night is our chance to put some space between our percentage and that of Sydney’s. Leigh Mathew’s said during the week he didn’t like discussing percentage with his players as he thought it detracted from the task at hand, I thought players were better than that. Break it down in it’s simplest form, aim to win each quarter by 4 goals. Cripps or no Cripps we have them covered. Time to start handing out some lessons again. Dees by 70 +
  7. At times our entries have improved. Lloyd and Barrett point out a couple of examples today of where we took the wrong option and it cost us. Adding to that easy set shots being missed and small fwds flying for marks when a teammate is already contesting leaving no one at ground level. My question is why does it take a pre season to tweak our game plan? Professional and highly skilled footballers that have been learning different game plans and tactics since under under 8’s.
  8. 11 games is an awesome effort. I live in Sydney and try and get to 4-5 home games each year and attend when we play in Sydney. I think you’ll find some people (regardless of who they support) bought premium memberships purely for the GF access. My wife and I (both Redlegs) will both be there Saturday night and we’re taking 4 guests. Part of me misses living in Melbourne and going all the time.
  9. I think he’ll get one. Not based on any logic other than the AFL will want to be seen to be doing something but they also want him there for rd 23 when Carlton plays the Pies.
  10. If I was Sydney I’d tell Buddy to go. You've got Amartey and Logan McDonald plus another 1-2 years out of Reid. Buddy has already made 10 million plus from footy, but clearly that’s not enough. So along with his wife tell the club he wants more money, than he’s leaving, now makes out he’s the bigger man and is putting talks on hold. Comical at best. Id be using the money to secure all of their young talent. As good as Buddy has been it’s time to move on.
  11. From a selfish point of view let’s keep as depth, but why would he want to stay when he could play in the seniors.
  12. The lions can win by 150 points today but it won’t mean a thing come finals. Big time pretenders.
  13. I’d happily throw in Tomlinson if it meant securing Naughton.
  14. Finals are another level again, we now know what it takes and that could be the difference. Look at a team like Brisbane, enough said.
  15. I’m tired of hearing “we’ve been worked out”, the biggest game in the country that has a stat for just about everything, opposition coaches who’s sole purpose is to analyse other teams and their game plan/s & tactics. Numerous tv shows that have former players and so called media experts that break down passages of play frame by frame. Clubs know what to expect from other clubs, being able to play to your strengths and nullify your opponents for longer is what it comes down to. Injuries, umpires & the bounce of the ball are just part of the game we love. You could also mount a case for our travel the breaks in between games compared to other top 8 sides. Apparently we also can’t win it because of our record against other top 8 sides this season. There was a post on FB yesterday detailing 5 of our 6 losses. Freo : lead by 30, lost by 38 Swans : lead by 26, lost by 12 Pies : less by 22, lost by 26 Dogs : lead by 27, lost by 10 Pies lead by 23, lost by 7 We also lost to Geelong by 28 at their home ground, early in the last if Kozi kicks straight scores are level. Geelong kicked a couple of late goals to flatter the scoreboard but we were largely competitive. It was Gawn’s first game back after missing a couple and didn’t take a mark, LJ missed the week before (can’t remember why). Even after conceding 96 points against the Pies and 110 against the Dogs two weeks earlier were still the no.1 ranked defensive side in the competition. We can still finish top 4 and from there anything can happen. We need to tidy up our entries inside forward fifty, at times throughout games it looks as though we have but then we revert back to bombing it in, opposition pressure plays it part. Our set shots cost us on Friday night, a number of very gettable shots were missed, as already mentioned on the post game thread we had 24 more inside fwd 50 than the Pies. But our pressure and fwd smarts (small fwds flying for marks when we already have a player in that contest than no one at ground level) has dropped right of allowing the Pies to rebound at ease. Finally the Dogs and Pies disposal whether by hand or foot was fast, low and direct. Both games were fast paced and finals like, our lob handballs and up and under kicks plays into the hands of the opposition giving them time to regroup and then apply tackling pressure. We can still go back to back and I believe we will.
  16. Two weeks ago we lose by 10 to the Dogs, last week we destroy Freo on their home deck, Freo currently up by 23 at 1/2 time against the Dogs. We lost by seven points last night to a red hot Pies. If we win our next two games we still finish top 4 and from there anything is possible.
  17. My work hours vary each day depending on the job, so I’ve taken today off just to be sure I’m hone in time….
  18. I’m in a bet with mates group, we always bet head to head anywhere from 3-5 games a week. There’s been at least one major upset 15 out of the 20 rounds played this season.
