  2. The answer is yes, same as tall defenders, it's easier to punch the ball away from your opponent than to take the pack mark. Look at Geelong and Hawthorn, their small/mid size defenders/forwards can/could roll through the midfield better than any other team. They drafted players with that exact purpose is mind....flexibility. I like the way Jetta goes about it but if you think he's in our top 5 players than we look at the game differently, and that's fine.
  3. I thought the league average was 230-240k, if the league average is 350k I'd be cautious about going to much over.
  4. Even if McDonald doesn't go down, if Frost plays the remainder of the season in defence he could be our no.1 tall defender by years end. Many will disagree and that's fine. As for the rest of your post, you've actually supported my point, if we were to lose a number of mids to injury coukd Jetta step up into the middle, if Jetta went down could we put one of our mids down to the back pocket....yes.
  5. Hogan Watts Gawn Viney Vince Oliver
  6. I hope not, he plays his role well but let's keep things in perspective, he's a small defender. Can he play on ball? Pay him 400k by all means, if the likes of Petracca/Viney/Hogan/Oliver etc were a little bit older he'd be down around 300k. I do like him and I do rate him but let's not get carried away.
  7. We've all had bad days, but with footballers, especially within our club it seems every second weekend they're having a bad day. At some stage considering the money they're on they need to become accountable.
  8. I don't like to buy into crap like "contract negotiations/uncertainty are becoming a distraction" but how many times do we hear "the players didn't come to play" or "they're not on today". How hard can it be.... Whatever the reason he isn't replicating his early form from last year.
  9. He's a key forward who has mobility issues. In order to kick for goal you firstly need to have the ball.
  10. Agree, finals are now out of reach. Build for next whilst still remaining competitive.
  11. Fair call on the 8. The fact we can't make it at the halfway point will be a good mental test for us. Those who drop their heads and give up can [censored] right off, no exceptions.
  12. They keep kicking to contested situations, at times it's a must, where as the Dogs work their way end to end by working harder to spread and find free men.
  13. Eagles are a mess, they are lazy, and good teams ie Hawks/Dogs can pick feeble zones apart.
  14. Hawthorn, Giants and the Bulldogs? Might as well add the Crows to that list while your going. Again I must be watching a different game to others. Freo : gameplan doesn't involve scoring Richmond : so predictable Essendon : VFL standard
  15. Daw has played 20 games. He's shown more than enough in 20 games to warrant the club to ask the question of North at years end. He can take a contested mark, has reasonable disposal, he tackles hard, his ruck work is improving and he can cover the ground. Imagine if he got some continuity, actually don't imagine that, things like that are only to be taken into consideration when discussing Melbourne players, how are Grimes/Garland and Dawes going....
  16. Game was over after 10 minutes. Only one team came to play, some ordinary skills on display.
  17. Que Hardwicks presser: It's still mathematically possible.
  18. Its a yes from me. Some posters will continue to pick apart his game whilst pushing the case of some of our players who have been gifted games for years but currently find themselves in and out of the team for different reasons.
