  1. I like the sound of that Wadda and if we do hit a big quaddie maybe we can ask the boys in charge to start a racing podcast.
  2. Yes, second and third.
  3. I added Mortons Fork in the last leg. Sohool worked hard early to get outside the leader and unfortunately couldn't find much. Oh well, the usual 3 legged Quaddie.
  4. Lol, connections not too pleased at the moment, surely during track work they would have noticed something amiss with the horse. It took them four runs to realise the horse wasn't letting down properly. Bombed out of the Quaddie mate, I had the 3,5 and added Petrology in the 3rd leg for some value.
  5. Some news on Dan guys. The horse has been running with a bone chip in his knee the last few runs. How that goes unnoticed is beyond me....it's been transferred out of the Carey stable and taken to Kyneton to be trained by Dean Krongold. He will be out for a while and there's a chance we have seen the last of him. He gave Demonland one or two good runs in the short time he was a part.
  6. Don't stress Wadda, I put your Quaddie on....
  7. Tricky indeed, small field, add the Valley factor and quite often a speed horse will take some catching in a sprint race. In saying that, I still felt Brave Smash was the top choice. Lol, I much preferred the appraisal from Weir on Big Dukes' failure in the Mooney Valley Cup back in the spring. When asked on radio a day or so about the poor showing, he simply replied " the horse went sh*thouse." No sugar coating that time. I think we could have some fun throwing our " Best Bets" together, especially with the Autumn Carnival just around the corner.
  8. I like the idea Macca. I'd be more than happy to participate and I'm interested to see what a few more think. My pick of the weekend was Brave Smash in the Group 2 at the Valley tonight, it wasn't very brave though.
  9. Cheers for the video Macca, loved every bit of it. 'Enable' is one serious filly, maybe they can bring her here so "Fun Time Frankie" can have some success in Oz. A clash with 'Winx', " I'd like to see that!"
  10. Thanks Wadda, I'll take that quaddie. I will include the 7 ( Diapason) in race 6 and 6 (Petrology) in race 8. Like you stated, Petrology is hard to catch but it runs on more often than not and does place at long odds. Doesn't get beaten by a long margin usually even when it misses the place.
  11. Appreciate the effort you put in Macca to keep us up to date with the thoroughbreds. With a hot weekend coming up it's a good time to spend indoors and enjoy the racing. Wow, 1600m down a straight and the winner still wanted to run off the track when it got the wobbles.
  12. Hi Wadda. You might as well have a go on Ace High at those odds and if it wins you become the legend for backing the horse that beats Winx. I was on Foxplay last September when Winx ran it down in the last 10 metres and beat it by a whisker, I thought I was a clever little puppy for picking the horse that almost beat her. If you were to bet on Ace High now and for whatever reason it doesn't run you should be able to get a refund, as the Tab odds aren't displayed as All In for the Apollo and Chipping Norton.
  13. Yeah Macca, I think Dan worked too hard early but in saying that I think the younger horses are too good for him these days. It was good finish though between the top 2. Looking forward to your selections for Hong Kong tomorrow.
  14. When Dan was in good form and going through the grades his rating enabled him to enter strong races with a light weight and it turned out as a success. When a horse loses form and doesn't register a win for a while the rating of that particular horse will drop but it still might be one of the highest rated horses in the race like Dan was today, hence the big weight. As it stands today Dan is an 83 rating I believe. For him to gain a light weight he would need to enter a benchmark 90 race or higher(listed/group). In that case, due to the fact his best is beyond him he would be way out of his depth in strong races. Connections are in a tough spot now, for him to be a realistic chance of winning again they would need to target a weak race like an 80 benchmark or country handicap, but all that does is make him carry the grandstand. I hope that makes sense a tad, I really shouldn't be typing on the back of a few scotches..
  15. G'Day Macca, hard to go past Wise Hero in my opinion also. Malaise is the other one I fancy, I will try and put some sort of trifecta with Dan in there. Malaise ran almost a second slower than Wise Hero in winning its last start over the same distance and what looked a similar grade also. Like you stated, if Wise Hero runs anywhere near the time he ran last start it would be hard to beat. It would be nice to get a collect today and fund the upcoming Autumn Carnival.
  16. No update as yet but at those odds I will have something each way just in case the Zephyr gets up. My mate says the horse has to win a race eventually....today seems as good a time as any.
  17. Dan Zephyr has accepted for Flemington this Saturday. It looks like connections are trying hard to get the horse another win but the current odds suggest otherwise. As far as I am aware they will run him. https://www.racenet.com.au/racing-form-guide/flemington-20180120/vrc-young-members-handicap-race-9 Lets hope he starts the year a lot better than how he finished the last.
  18. Exactly DemonOx, I spoke to them directly on the phone back in October and I could hear the person typing on the computer when I was requesting which player is to go with each name. Therefore, you would assume the information was entered correctly at that point in time. When I called them about the mistake, they took the names again, threw me the sorry line and advised me the cards will be posted again. Being a week or so before Christmas there was no chance I was receiving their cards by Christmas.
  19. It was disappointing. I spoke to someone from the membership department via phone in regards to customising the kids cards back in October, it would have been nice for them to receive the cards with their favourite players on there in time for Christmas. I did receive a "sorry about that" though.
  20. No scarf here either with the pack and they sent me the wrong membership cards for the kids.
  21. The Brisbane winter carnival is one my favourites. I lived in Brisbane from 2011-14 and would frequent the local on Saturdays to watch the Dees with the races in the background. With our performances during that time it wasn't hard to turn your attention to the races. I attended Stradbroke Handicap Day one year whilst up there. It was a great day out with many quality horses running. Best part was you didn't have to push through 100,000 people to get to a bar.
  22. I enjoy having a flutter during the carnivals and will do as much study as possible. I tend to mix it up during those times with quinellas, trifectas and first fours. I will back a horse to win if I believe it's overs in the betting. I finished slightly in front during the spring. I haven't had much success after the carnival but no great damage done either. This time of the year I rely on a work colleague for tips, he has a horse with the Weir stable and gets some good word on horses, especially mid-week. The fields aren't as strong and you get some decent value for runners. I was going to share a tip yesterday on here but the Mornington meeting was called off. The horse is Von Richter, I'll see if it's worth following next run. I'll always have a small bet on the Zephyr when and where he runs and I've been following your selections lately for races you mention. I'll invest a small amount with a small combination to boost the percentage, today the 7 split me and I missed out on the tri. Silly me, in hindsight I could've taken your top selections for 1st and added the 7 and 8 for second and third. I look forward to your Magic Millions selections, it's usually a great racing day. There is a $242,000 Maiden Plate on the day with $142,500 for first. Not bad for a first time winner compared to the horses that slug it out in $15,000 maidens around the country.
  23. Hi Macca, once again spot on with your selections. I hope you got some kind of return with the right combination. The 7 was showing $62 on the tote at the jump.
  24. Yes it was, got stuck behind some traffic, hemmed in at stages and when a run presented, it finished off like a train and missed by centimetres. I thought the trifecta paid ok considering 2 favourites filled the top 2 spots. If they bring Pounamu here I will be jumping on the bandwagon. Always a great story when there's a family involvement and Ms L Warwicks' post race interview was a good one too. ‘’I was out in front a long time by myself – it’s a massive straight.’’ She said things were ‘real quiet’ but she kept telling herself that ‘no, he’s coming’.
  25. Terrific finish to the Cup Macca, couldn't be any closer. Once again your selections filled the places. Pounamu can certainly chase hard.
