Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 17
Straight Sets Simon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I like JKH. -
The game would be far less congested if umpires weren't so hot on players moving half an inch off their lines and calling play on.
-
If Adelaide win and Walker gets at least two weeks then it's a great result for us.
-
Handy for us in a couple of weeks.
-
These changes are likely but boy we would become an even slower team.

According to Ben Guthrie on Twitter Stretch will miss the remainder of the year with a stress fracture in his toe. -
Needs to be a 10 to 15 goal win, especially without Bontempelli.

Royal Melbourne isn't in Perth.

Jordan Lewis is absolutely cooked, never pick him again
Straight Sets Simon replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
The backline didn’t have to do anything because the ball never went down there without Sandilands and Fyfe. On top of that the Fremantle forwards are all no-names anyway. Lewis constantly falls over, panics under pressure and struggles to bend down to pick up the ball. That 50 metre penalty was a disgrace, especially from someone supposed to be a leader. -

POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 16
Straight Sets Simon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Our forwards are most lead-up style players but we are forever sitting it on their heads hoping someone will take a screamer. A big problem is they start too far up the ground, they should be in the goal square leading out to mark 30 metres out, instead they have to just stand 30 metres out and watch opposition defenders pick off the high ball. -

Our forward line structure is a mess, one passage of play summed it up: Viney won a centre clearance, was streaming forward with no one around him, looked up and had no one to kick it to so he had to handball to Spargo. It was a shocking handball, but that’s irrelevant because imagine not having forward options to kick to after the forwards have had a centre bounce to set up properly. -
Anyone who can hold a chest mark.

Spot on. We won’t win any game against good opposition if we continue to blindly handball and play on all the time as the first option. -

Plus the always looking to handpass without even trying to run and kick the ball first. -
Game against Freo - umpiring
Straight Sets Simon replied to Deemania since 56's topic in Melbourne Demons
The umpiring was good except the below the knees rule is a disgrace (for both teams). -

Smith was doing SFA down back, needed to try something to get him into the game other than for tackling.
