  1. I felt for Moloney last year, I feel for Jones this year. I hope we get a coach in before Jones goes the same way as Moloney.
  2. Can we not insult Matthew Knights by putting him in the same sentence as Mark Neeld.
  3. I think Bailey was ordinary and Neeld is much the same. It's a bit hit and miss with these first year coaches. Pretty important to get them from the right clubs. Geelong and Sydney are logical choices as they are hands down the most well run football clubs in the league. They don't rely on talent alone, they have minimal off field issues and they consistantly play good football. Hinkley, Ross Lyon, Ross, Bomber, Sanderson are examples of coaches from these clubs, they all go alright.
  4. The media were always going to be hard on us after they lost the tanking saga. Andy D has humbled the media repeatedly this year, so they kick the easiest target - MFC.
  5. Jones should've been given the captaincy. But Grimes has been excellent and it's his now. It was a mistake to give Trengove the captaincy, but ego's get in the road of anything being done to change that.
  6. Moloney wouldn't of been here if Thompson was though, they were involved in the one trade. Scott Thompson we could do nothing about, but he wasn't handled well, which didn't help. He should've been playing in our senior side more than he had been. He wasn't handled well, Jolly wasn't handled well either - by his own admission as well. But, we could Moloney, McLean, Jones as our on ball brigade at the moment, which is a hell of a midfield as all 3 are underrated goers. Neeld stuffed Moloney, completely stuffed him, I am not a big Moloney fan, but he should be still playing for us. You don't just get rid of players like Moloney... But Moloney has been the final nail in Neelds coffin as the media now have no pity for him. Neeld bought this upon himself.
  7. A new board and coach would be a good start. There are 2 very successful clubs of recent times in Geelong and Sydney and they have one thing in common - culture. Any assistant coaches from either clubs would be more than welcome. It's no coincidence Ken Hinkley is instilling a good culture at Port Adelaide, he learnt off Bomber and there is no coincidence Longmire has continued to be successful at Sydney. Geelong and Sydney are very professional and well lead organizations and the MFC is the opposite. Instead of grabbing our coach from Collingwood, who didn't even have a great culture under Malthouse, we should be looking to get an assistant from Geelong or Syd. That is if we can't land Paul Roos himself. A dream panel would be Paul Roos with Kirk and Ling as assistants, it's best to aim high instead of settling for Malthouse's scraps.
  8. Out of respect for Ken Hinkley, could you not put Mark Neeld in the same sentence as him.
  9. Of course Mick is going to say that, Neeld is his protege. As a coach, Mick is a motivator of people, whereas Paul Roos is a culture builder. For all Malthouse time at Collingwood, he only won a one flag and as soon as he left - so did the player motivation within the group. Whereas when Paul Roos left Sydney, the culture was already deeply ingrained. The players weren't playing for Roos alone, they were playing for the club. The same goes for Geelong and Bomber, when Bomber left, the culture was still strong. Collingwood hasn't got the best culture, look at all their off field discretions over the years, even when Mick was there. We need to chase a coach that has previously been part of a good culture. Mark Neeld isn't the man for this club, I like the bloke, but he's not the coach for this club going forward. Hopefully we get the next appointment right, it's the most important appointment in the clubs history.
  10. Sorry Bob, I apologise, the lads done a magnificant job tagging the Brisbane midfielders and Neeld is one hell of a coach. It was really impressed with the defensive work of Matt Jones and Jordan McKenzie today. Actually, Trengove and Matt Jones completely shut Moloney down today, long live the master coach Mark Neeld.
  11. Zorko and Moloney rolled around today virtually unchecked. If you think otherwise, good on you. Moloney had 36. Zorko had 29, kicked 3 and had 7 scoring shots. McKenzie laid a massive 2 tackles.
  12. Where was he? Obviously no where near Moloney. He sure as hell wasn't near Zorko, no-one was, he tore us a new one. I don't know what your point is, but Moloney and Zorko rolled around basically unchecked and McKenzie was insipid, I barely sighted him.
  13. If anyone can make Hampson look like Buddy, it's Mark Neeld. He will probably play David Rodan on him.
  14. Moloney had the ball 36 times and McKenzie laid 2 tackles..
  15. It was a great idea by Neeld to let Zorko and Moloney run around virtually unchecked today. It really worked for him, well coached Mark.
  16. We won't get Paul Roos, he doesn't like our club at all.. We should look at getting someone who was is or was involved with Geelong or Sydney. They are 2 sides with a great culture and they are sides that both stick to their game plans, they are well drilled and consistant. Collingwood, Hawthorn, Carlton and Richmond all probably have more talent, but they aren't as consistant or well drilled. Collingwood and Richmond just get the ball and hack it on their boot half the time. They are no well coached sides and I wouldn't get anyone involved with them. Brett Kirk should be looked at for a start.
  17. The only thing is, if we trade Frawley, we will have a hard time replacing him. So while he's out of form and frustrating, he is still a very important player, he'd leave a huge hole in our backline if we got rid of him. On top of that, if we did trade him for draft picks, we'd then have to attract a backman via free agency and players won't want to play here.
  18. He got rewarded the captaincy coming off a bad year. I think a B-Grade midfielder is a fair assessment, if he could live up to that, I'd take it.
  19. McDonald has just had a bad start to the season, perhaps a stint in the VFL will serve him well. I agree on you with McKenzie though, he's never been much chop, we've just been ordinary and we'll continue to be ordinary with blokes like him our side. Yes he tries hard, but he's not up to AFL standard and never had been.
