  1. Such a great finals series and run in.

Rnd 21 - 52k at the G to watch us beat the Swans to make the finals - plugger kicks his 100th.

Rnd 22 - 76k at the G to watch us beat the tigers by 76 points. Farmer takes a screamer on Garry's head.

Qualifying final - 60k at the G to watch us beat Adelaide - farmer kicks 7 or 8 on McLeod.

Semi final - 88k (second biggest crowd of the season) to see us [censored] the Saints.

Prelim - 73 k to see us lose to North. Too good in the wind and it was a bit wet as well wasn't it? Farmer screamer in the first minute - the crowd noise then was absolutely amazing.

Malcolm Blight says after the Grand Final "Melbourne were the team we were really worried about".

We are in the most privileged position to be the first club to play the cheats in Melbourne @ their home game. Particularly they are doing some sort of "support walk" for the past and can you believe it banned players. Even a some sort of standing ovation clap.

We need to stand up for the rest of the non cheating players and clubs of this league / world who are somehow tried to make feel almost sorry for the dogs.

    We need a protest for:

    • Every other club and player who does noes not cheat
    • The contrived sham which saw the AFL almost complete their negotiated outcome and play everyone like fools.
    • The contrived sham which saw the AFL treat us with more disdain for dare mentioning the "T" work while at least 5 other clubs did that and shaming us (Not to mention Jimmy and Bailey)
    • The arrogance of which their supporters have belittled every possible finding,(mexican hats, stand by hird et al)
    • The AFL players association who inexplicably stick by the 34 like fallen angels, without caring about the non drug taking other 500 or so who should demand a level playing field
    • Rd 4, 2013 when they beat us by 120 odd points, when juiced up with goof balls
    • The ridiculous Hird dragging the game through the courts and the mud for 3 years.

We need to do it not just for us but for every other fair club, players, supporter and sports.

    Ideas?

    • I like the simple chant of CHEATS, CHEATS, CHEATS, CHEATS, CHEATS, CHEATS during the standing ovation. 30,000 odd chanting dees would out voice 30 odd thousand gay golf claps.

This is pretty small time. I couldn't care less about Essendon.

I also think you should find a better adjective for the golf claps...

My guess : Round 5 - Anzac Day Eve vs Tigers as we'll be at home and live on prime time TV on a Sunday night with a decent crowd.

I feel it would be unlikely they would debut him any earlier and after the Tigers we are at Etihad and Metricon until we are back to play the Bulldogs at the G in May.

None of these factors will be considerations. He'll play when he's fit and earned his spot. The club doesn't debut high draft picks for publicity purposes any more.

  4. Fascinating post WJ. As a massive Melbourne and Liverpool fan I've often reflected on how different they are. But you have identified some similarities which I never thought of!

I spose the legacy of Bill Shankly and Norm Smith looming large over both clubs would be another similarity. It's fair to say Liverpool did a little bit better with their next appointment though. I wonder how different Melbourne would be if we had managed to get RDB to coach the club in 1965...

On Hillsborough, well, kilometres of column space has been devoted to that, but the new inquests are meant to deliver their findings in the next few weeks and the final public memorial service will be held this year. So perhaps that fight is finally coming to an end.

It's beginning to look like the group we brought in are going to create a Geelong 2000 like dynasty.  You can effectively add Jesse H into that group as he debuted with them.

    Traded in

Jeff Garlett  ( Had a few behavioural question marks and was coming off an ordinary season, by his standards.) GUN!!

Heritier Lumumba (Carried ankle injuries in his first year, so juries out. Will know by the end of the year but reports are promising)

Sam Frost  (Injury ruined first year. Looks like he will hold down a position in the team for the time being.) Juries out.

Ben Newton (Free Agent) (Started to show very promising signs in the last few games.) Juries out

    Drafted

Christian Petracca  Going to be an absolute gun. Special X factor

    Angus Brayshaw     GUN!!

Alex Neal Bullen      Bit of a smokey  and a surprise at such a late pick. Got much more game time than expected in first year and showed                                       he's going to be a solid long term contributor.

Billy Stretch             Same as above except not smokey as was Father Son

    Oscar McDonald

    Lol.

    We never learn.

  6. Over the next couple of weeks we're obviously going to hear about how goalkicking is the big flaw in Jesse's game and that he is the next Travis Cloke. In case this notion is put to you by any of your mates, please feel free to furnish them with the following information:

    - Hogan is the 13th most accurate shot at goal since 1965 (of players who have had 50 or more shots at goal) - http://afltables.com/afl/stats/accuracy.html

    - Hogan was a more accurate shot at goal than any of the players in the top 10 for the Coleman Medal last year - http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/melbourne-beginning-to-look-like-a-simon-goodwin-team-after-two-years-of-paul-roos/news-story/708c2557c2fa1de1bcc54cbb617ef788

Any journos who are reading demonland (we all know you get most of your 'scoops' from footy fan forums) should also feel free to use this information in any of the razor-sharp 'analysis' they provide for the footy public.

  7. Part of the purpose of pre-season games is to get blokes match fit. A lot of blokes looked stuffed in the second half. Ideally Maxy plays as close to the full game as possible each week as he is so far ahead of all our other options. I think flogging him yesterday is getting him ready for playing 90% game time in the real season.

Also a bit surprised that Frost isn't spending time in the ruck.

We never looked like losing it how good a feeling is that?!?

Good even contribution. Watts was terrific and McDonald got back on track. Oliver plays round one.

Agreed. We were only a goal or so up at the start of the last but blind freddy could've told you we were going to win.

  9. The NT News is easily the worst tabloid in Australia. The actual quotes did not reflect the severity of the headline. NT politics is also an absolute circus so I wouldn't be surprised if this is just Giles trying to get more money out of the AFL.

Have all the above sue honestly I doubt there is anything I have not tried.

With all this I am good unless I do more than a normal amount of walking. For good exercise  it is on the bicycle.

As the years mount you just have to accept that some parts of your body will never be the same as they were at a younger age.

Have you tried calf raises? I had this as a footy player (much lower standard obviously) and it completely ruins your season. Calf raises fixed it.

  11. I still have nightmares of that Sunday 5.40 pm game where Adelaide beat us about 7 goals to 4 at the G in front of 12k. We didn't kick a goal till the third quarter and Juice kicked about 4 out on the full from twenty out directly in front.

To me that will always be #peakjuice
