  1. He just glared at me. I suggest my smug face might have betrayed my ‘I’m not a football person’ narrative. They often employed former players. It wasn’t their fault, but they had no useful skills in the environment and only got the jobs because of who they were.
  2. It was easily the worst place I’ve ever worked. I did 6 months, and somehow got years of stories out of it.
  3. I very briefly worked for Cotton On, and aside from it being a horrible place to work, the highlight was being in a meeting with David Wojcinski, and pretending I didn’t know he was a former footballer. I casually said in a meeting, in front of 20 coworkers, ‘I just googled you, and the first thing that came up said you broke the jaw of some 17 year old kid called Jack Viney’. It was one of my career highlights.
  4. That’s what fans come to the footy to see. 2 teams go hard at it with discipline and huge effort for 3 hours - only for the umpire to unequivocally decide the result with a decision that no one can hear or see.
  5. It clearly hits Aish’s arm. Honestly. It’s just embarrassing how often it happens for some clubs at some stages. Anyone would think it was, I dunno, intentional.
  6. If you don’t reckon the fix is in for Carlton this year you aren’t paying attention.
  7. Cripps throws more than anyone in the comp.
  8. Luke Jackson is such a unique footballer.
  9. Essendon remind me of my year 12 results. They’re totally irrelevant now, but still a bit disappointing.
  10. Not if you like bad jumpers and poor decision making.
  11. They look to me a little like GWS early days. They’ve picked the best kids available over 3-4 drafts - but now have lots of mids and no structure to support it. It’s a risk, especially watching McKercher running around knowing he’ll be the first target for Tassie.
  12. West coast: ‘We’re so bad we need priority picks’ North Melbourne: ‘Hold my beer’
  13. Clarrie at pains to thank our strength and conditioning post game. He gets it, and I love it.
  14. It wasn’t for lack of trying.
  15. This umpiring is embarrassing
  16. Gotta start winning the ball at the source more. It’s that simple really.
  17. Credit to Watson here. He looks great in the wet.
  18. Hawthorn’s midfielders get sucked out of position way too easily. They did it against us too. It’s coaching 101.
  19. It keeps happening in games. Clearly the players can’t hear. The umpires need to have better game awareness. It might have cost Brisbane a flag.
  20. The wizard is very mouthy for a kid who has done literally nothing.
  21. I thought he looked hampered in the first half, and then played one of the best last quarters you’ll ever see from an inside mid. I’ll back him in, even with one hand.
  22. Shai Bolton can come to the Dees whenever he wants.
  23. I read this week on AFL.com (I think) that Max was crook with the flu going into the Sydney game. The club didn’t want it reported on. Brodie is mid tier these days, and his lack of marking is a liability.
  24. I love our footy team. They just never stop.
