  1. Yep, should have held on to nicho as trade bait… straight swap! haha
  2. Is this the last we see of rickyj45? LOL!
  3. Yep i agree, I'm much the same as you. despite being down the bottom for the better part of the last decade I still went to many games. Yeh your right, I guess i was thinking dangerfield would be a big step in the right direction for winning, however adelaide havnt been overly impressive despite their list being significant more advanced than ours. Well his signing would get me pretty excited anyway. (id prefer sloane though!) Yeh I know, I encourage them to come to games, but I end up going on my own quite a bit.
  4. I have previously thought that perhaps a giant contract for a dangerfield might be toxic. however, imagine if we did sign a dangerfield, I have no doubt the member numbers would increase, the game attendance would increase (at least for the first few rounds lol) and the number of people actually following our games would increases. I know quite a few melb supporters that are embarrassed to admit to their following of the club and these people now hardly follow the game. I think all of that would improve. Probably a big enough reason to go for it.
  5. i suppose if you think about it, would you rather coach at your old club with some experience when you know you could've adopted a wealth of knowledge from one of the games best coaches then gone on to put those in practice. I think what I'm saying is this move to melbourne is also in the best interest of his career.
  6. Im pretty happy with it. I wonder if this appointment coupled with sandos departure could make melb a more appealing destination for current adelaide players?
  7. to be honest we would be lucky to get much. he's shown next to nothing for quite a while. all he has shown is that he fancys his run too much. This has resulted in him demonstrating selfish play that often results in poor decisions.
  8. If the clubs environment and everything that came with it did indeed impact on Clarks health to the extent that it has been reported, and now the clubs environment is a trigger for his illness, then I understand if he couldn't return to melbourne. It would be painful to see him at another club, especially collingwood, however if that is the honest situation then i can accept that, his options shouldn't be limited because of that. However if particular areas of that are not accurate, then that point of view changes dramatically lol.
  9. I was thinking the exact same thing regarding the pairs photos. Anyways, I'm not particularly opposed to him coming to the dees now that i have read a little more about him, his changing of name and surname. I feel like i might have a better idea of what he's about than i did previously. it would be interesting to find out if he is a relative of patrice.
  10. Ok, so I was chatting to an old coach of mine who happens to support collingwood, and we got on the topic of lumumba. This old coach of mine can talk, he has that much information stored, every now and then he deciders to unpack it lol. On this occasion, he told me about the last name lumumba and its history with the congo. I won't go in to too much depth, but it made me reconsider heretier and his motives for changing his name. Petrice Lumumba was a congolese independence leader and he played a massive role in developing independence from Belgium in 1960 and he was also the first democratically and legally voted prime minister of the republic of the Congo. Petrice was assassinated in 1961 by american and belgian governments orders. (theres much more to it) Heretier was apparently born in rio de janeiro to a brazillian mother and a congolese father. According to wiki, he lived in WA with mother and step after for a while and only found out about his biological father at the age of 19. I couldn't find any info that suggests he is a descendant of patrice, however its a good enough reason to wish to change your name to that of your fathers or your relatives. That may be a reason that he can be quite outspoken on his opinions also, he may feel that as sharing that last name, he needs to speak his thoughts on what is right. Who knows, but i found it interesting, and it changed my perception some what. Apologies for spelling errors.
  11. Its a bit of a catch isn't it. Now look at it from adelaides point of view. Why would they give up a proven star for a potential star. So thats why its necessary to give multiple picks. Picks 2 and 21 or whatever it mitt be won't cut it for danger. If the club is keen on landing him, they would probably arrange a swap around of picks with other clubs to offer adel;aide something quite reasonable other than 2 and 3, could be 3 and a top 10 or 15 pick. because realistically theres not that much difference between pick 3 and pick 10. Who knows, they might not be all that keen on danger. I didn't think it was in roos's style to target big fish like that. I thought he would be going for smaller names, like bang for buck, sam kerridge or a crouch would be a good pick up. Ive said it before, north have got some quality mids that hadvnt made massive names for themselves yet, cunnington, zeiball, although given the seasons success i doubt they wil be keen to go anywhere. There are so many quality mids out there that would be better bang for buck than dangerfield, and we would also be able to avoid all of the baggage that comes with over paying a new player. However, in roos I trust - Im sure he knows what he is doing, so who ever he brings to the club - I will embrace.
  12. I agree. He's more consistent, does the 1%ers, very well rounded player. Where as in my eyes, patty can do some incredible things, but isn't as consistent atm.
  13. this thread grew so quickly, like 100 pages in a matter of days, incredible really, lol!
  14. i think id take him over lemumba
  15. I'm so over it now I dont think I care anymore. Same goes for frawley, stay, go, whatever.
  16. Im not suggesting that Watts doesn't need to work on his aerobic capacity to become more involved in the game. Far from it. It doesn't look like you disagree with his attributes, instead just listed further skills that bernie has. Every body realises bernies a much more rounded player hence his successful first year at the club and that Watts has several areas of his game that he can improve. And your right, Watts doesn't often collect his own ball, But the fact that he can use the ball effectively, (when he gets his hands on it) is better than most of the team. That is reason enough to keep him or - at least trade him for someone that can kick also. (not lumumba) Why would we want to trade out one of the only decent kicks in our team, when precision disposal is clearly one of our biggest needs. We have enough players with question marks next to their names before we go hounding Watts. If the day comes where Watts genuinely is the worst player on our list and deserves the criticism he gets, I think we would hardly be complaining. My original post was really just pointing out that he is no where near our worst player but gets hounded like he is Cook or something.
  17. are his attributes completely different to vinces? If you disagree, state your reasons.
  18. Im sick of people constantly criticising his game. Watch the north game and watch his disposal. He has attributes that melbourne needs more of. He can pin point kick, and he has that ability to evade tacklers and create space in congestion. Hes an outside player, hes never going to be your in and under or your key position player. But he can run it out of defence and use an accurate kick, he's also good at delivering it in to the fwd 50. In comparison, hes not that different to a vince type.
