  1. Guys, I don't know how negligent Josh Mahoney has been in this, however, I've chosen this as the catalyst to document some very negative feedback I have received recently about Josh.

You will have to respect my sources, however, please be assured that these comments are 100% factual.

I play tennis with a guy who had a role for the years 2013 & 2014 within our football Dept. and let me assure you this guy has has had involvement in at least two other very successful football Clubs.

His feedback of Josh Mahoney paints a picture of someone totally out of his depth and well below the standard of his peers at other AFL clubs. He cites a lack of attention to detail, follow-up and General inspiration as major weaknesses. I was also told by him last week that a current member of the Football Dept. was harshly criticising Josh to him on the day before our discussion.

I have also been told by my very close contact within the Hawthorn playing group that James Frawley has also been very negative about the effectiveness of Josh Mahoney.

I've never met Josh, however, others I have asked, have told me that he certainly wasn't hit with the personality & energy stick and they thought the only reason he survives is that he takes on everything Senior Management throws at him which has the effect of him perhaps having too much on his plate.

  2. Seems to me that as the Kangas have become a more consistent & reliable team who now wins the games they should win, it is Ryan Bastinac that has become one of the casualties at selection. FCS, even Nahas still gets a game ahead of him. Not for me.

  3. Saw it on a Facebook trade page. You might as well have just said "I made this up completely". It might not be your fabrication but it's certainly someone's.

I really doubt the club is looking to trade Dawes.

Wow, I'm really amazed that someone would be surprised the Club would want to try and offload Dawes.

  4. It will be exceptionally rare for Clubs to match offers for several reasons particularly if that player has provided great service eg Judd & Dangerfield because they (a) don't want a player in their environment that doesn't want to be there and (b) they don't want to risk a court case.

You must also remember that when a Club goes to a player who is out of Contract and says we are delisting you, the Player can't say no, I'm staying.

  5. You couldn't be more wrong. The Hawks will be totally inactive in player signings this year as as they don't have a dollar in their salary cap. Stuart Fox mentioned today that this will be a year at the Draft for them so as to bring in some youth.

  6. The Kangas had laid the strongest foundations over quite some time. Very impressive in their dealings. That is not to say other Clubs weren't. Never gave a serious thought to leaving Sydney, however, had he returned to Vic I get the impression it was Kangas or Tiges.

  7. DD, a father of 2 Xavier boys. One was in Matt's year & the other Dan's. No 2 son was on the phone to Dan yesterday. Perhaps, I shouldn't have posted such first hand info, but to be honest, you just get so annoyed at some of the rubbish that gets written on theses forums.

I try to keep factual which is why I am a low volume poster.

  8. We were the last of the Clubs that actually made a formal offer to Hannaberry to make ours. We offered 5 years at $900k per year with $1.2 front loaded in each of the first 2 years.

He had no thought or real interest in leaving Sydney, however, if he did the Kangas would have been the choice.

  9. The problem was the Gawn tap. I thought Gawn's tapwoprk was terrific and apart from a few spilt marks which were costly, he played a good game.

That said, his tap with 41 seconds to go had to go straight to his feet and just lock it in again and again. Roos will be so disappointed with a highly offensive tap out the back which Steven was able to run onto.

  10. Extremely difficult to become A Grade if you lack pace and can't go either side like a slow Sam Mitchell can to get out of trouble. GWS knew which one to let go. Too left sided, too slow, very average foot skills even on preferred side, and obviously never had to hand ball the thing growing up as very poor by hand, no right hand at all.
