  1. My thoughts of (alleged) events:

1 - Davey clearly says something in a catch up with Mifsud.

2 - I don't believe he was trying to be critical of Neeld.

3 - Mifsud twists it in some way & blurts it to someone, as part of his new position as AFL's chief dobber.

4 - Caro brings it to the club.

5 - Davey sorts it with Neeld and the issue is dealt with and should be closed.

6 - Mifsud blurts it again, this time to Grant Thomas.

    7 - Sh*t gets hectic.

8 - Mifsud backtracks because he knows he has dumped Davey in it and misconstrued his words (not necessarily lied)

9 - Neeld claims in a presser today that he still doesn't know who the source is. Suddenly he's not concerned about it. Hmm that's odd Mark. Because we all know it was Davey?

I get that he has to close ranks around Davey to maintain a club unity but I would prefer he didn't fib to us all in the meantime...

Of course I could be wrong about some or all of this - but I think it may be the chain of events from what I can work out?

It annoyed me in the Neeld presser today when he said he didn't care about finding out who the original source was.

    Sounds about right to me.

    As to the last line:

And Neeld has nothing to gain by PUBLICLY finding the original source.

I'm not even sure there's anything to gain by finding out PRIVATELY.

Whoever it was can remain to be [censored] off, or they can get on with it and adjust.

Neeld shouldn't and won't change his approach either way.

And if they continue down the same path, they'll be exposed very quickly.

  2. On a sidenote, saw a young bloke (couldn't have been over 20) driving a flash car in the city with a big sticker taking up at least 1/6 of his front windscreen, in the corner, reading "Bukkake Nights".

    A bit strange, I thought...

Anyway, really in-depth analysis there from Commetti.

He should stick to commentating, and I've got sick of him doing that now too.

  3. I reckon.

Tony Jones slandering him again though - just said on Channel 9 news that Neeld stumbled his way through the presser, then they played a 5 second clip so you couldn't draw your own conclusion.

    Disgraceful.

  4. I dont understand the role that Mifsud has . If he goes around the AFL having informal "chats" with people and then acting on them professionally then his role is a professional [censored]. If he develops talent from the Aboriginal community and assists them to achieve the standards required for draft camp then that is fine .Searching AFL clubs for signs of racism is bulldust .The clubs should be left to educate their more "country" recruits about racist attitudes .This guy is a professional parasite and an individual of weak character .

As little as I think of Mifsud, I don't think this is correct.

  5. He got sick of reading all the crap around here & decided to stay in the west in a positive culture - now why does that not surprise me.

best of luck son - hopefully your heart will beat red & blue again one day - but I fully understand if it doesn't.

    I thought the same thing.

If we were into him, all he needed to do was see the circus around us at the moment.

Any doubts about staying in Perth would have disappeared.

But remember - it won't always be this way.

Gaff might've been a nice one to get, but there'll be others.

  6. The media really don't want to let go of this, but they just don't know what angle to take on it.

(they certainly can't come to a consensus)

EIther way, they seem to be happy to take Mifsud's word that he didn't make it up or embelish himself, and that it must have been his source that was incorrect.

You know, cos Mifsud has proved to have such outstanding character.

As Tony Jones just said on the 9 news: "Davey denies he has anything to do with it, so if it's not him, then just which player made the allegations to Mifsud?"

Because it must be a player, that they can then crucify.

    It must.

The media wouldn't have it any other way.

  7. I'd bet Neeld knows exactly who it was. I'd say he will let them live or die by their own sword.

Making a song and dance over it achieves nothing beside more bad press for the club.

Team selection night can't come quick enough for mine.

We have a reasonable list with serious potential for upside but no onfield leadership.

Watching Demonlanders jump ship after one game following the death of Jim

makes me wonder how they haven't already jumped off.

Barracking for Melbourne isn't easy, hasn't been at anytime for most of our lives,

Just think how sweet Number 13 will be and look after yourselves as it may take a while

    Completely agree.

I think quite a few "supporters" and threatening to jump ship when they're already in the water, trying to swim around so they can climb back on.

  8. I see a golden revenue raising opertunity ahead.

Channel nine to the tune of $1million for the balance of 2012

    Or see you in court

I'd love to see this, purely to see Channel 9 being advertised on Channel 7 and Foxtel.

  9. Possibly contrary to the opinions of others, this helps us in our negotiating for a new sponsor.

For the last month or more, regardless of what it was for, the MFC has consistently been in the media more than any other AFL club.

If that's not providing value-for-money exposure to a sponsor, I don't know what is.

  10. The AFL stands by Mifsud.

    The MFC stands by Davey.

    Who lied?

They obviously talked about the new regime at the footy club.

Did Aaron embellish or use dramatic licence in that meeting?

Or did Mifsud during the subsequent meeting of the executive? Did he want to impress the higher ups with his inside knowledge of The State of Indigenous Life in the AFL?

Now this is not new for me - but I am going to believe the MFC. One of our players is under attack because our coach was thrown under a bus at a recent AFL Executive meeting. The MFC is under attack.

    I believe in Aaron.

One party chose to take the contents of a confidential conversation had in their role as an AFL official, and divulged them to someone totally unrelated to the situation, who has no business knowing that information and who is known as a blow hard who takes any opportunity to aim a snipe at the AFL.

I will choose not to believe this party.

  11. As much as Mifsud is in the wrong, I still think Grant Thomas is the main one in the wrong here. He is the one who put a very damaging comment out there with nothing but a sketchy source, and then puts a flippant remark like 'It may not have happened?'. And then when Neeld takes calls him and tells his side he takes the article down and thinks that all is well. Seriously, the football media is hitting all time lows at the moment.

Not at all - what business does Mifsud have sharing this private conversation with Thomas??

  12. Don't even go there, we don't need to guess the source, this could do great damage to our club and Shwab needs to sort it out with the AFL. Interesting to hear him on SEN later today.

Yep, I understand that, but I think it must be conceded that this tidbit has come out of this incident directly or indirectly, considering the timing.

Even if it was just from a journalist sniffing around for info on Jurrah and overheard something then misinterpreted it.

  13. Mifsud must stand down immediately to maintain "integrity", and he should come clean regarding his source.

If you think about it logically, if it's been around a few weeks, going back through the timeline... it would be around the time of the Jurrah incident in Yuendumu.

Now, I know Jurrah can speak english and it would've improved exponentially since being in Melbourne, but I think it's very possible something has been lost in translation during discussions with Mifsud as part of his role, and this is the culmination of that.

No malicious intent, but some very damaging rumours have been spread.

My question is: why the hell has Grant Thomas been involved in this rumour-mongering?

THAT is why I think Mifsud should go.

I'm not saying it was Jurrah, but surely someone around that situation.

It's the right timing, the right club.

Maybe something Eddie overheard during his "interview"?

  14. It's a shame he can't continue his development, but he's definitely not in our current best 22, and that's saying something.

    I don't agree with that.

He's borderline best 22, notwithstanding his still developing frame.

With a bit more physical development he will be firmly entrenched.
