  1. I dont mean to be pessimistic or anything but I do think many posters on DL overate some of our new recruits. Their are 2 ways to look at every player Byrnes = Speedy midfielder who will fill a gap and bring in some professionalism Byrnes = Ageing small forward who could not break into the firsts in a team which struggled to make the 8 this year. Barry = Classy outside left footer with great run and carry and oozing talent Barry = Jamie Bennell Dawes = Talented professional gorilla who will help our team massively structurally Dawes = Big overrated player who couldn't kick more goals then Brad Miller in 2012 which was overpaid for Viney = Best inside mid of the draft and exactly what our team needs Viney = Kid who is yet to play an AFL game and jumps the gun when talking to the media Hogan = Best Forward since Franklin Hogan = kid who did not look extremely excited about being taken by the dees and cant play for a year. I am not putting any of these players in either of these categories yet until we see them run out for the MFC next year (or the year after) I am feeling good so far but I don't want a repeat of my excitement from last years administration/coaching turn over which turned into the worst season the MFC has probably experienced. Lets see how things go
  2. Dont forget GWS's 25 first round picks starting to blossom around that time. Good decade ahead
  3. I am concerned to. I admit we did need to bolster our forward line however I think that we could have settled on just Dawes and used picks 3 and 4 on both mids. Thats my 2c anyway, see how things play out. Wines and Viney could turn into our Martin and Cotchin. Remember next year we can still draft another solid mid in an uncompromised draft
  4. we better not trade off pick 4 if we do we will not have any picks inside the top 50 in this superdraft.
  5. In - Toumpas, Hogan, Wines, Viney, Dawes Out - TMac, Petterd Looks good to me I would even throw in the compo pick from FA to get it across the deal. We have a guy sitting at Casey for the past few years by the name of Davis who could fill TMacs position, that and we already have Watts, Dunn, Tynan, Garland, Frawley as reasonable talls down back. Hell we could even use that extra pick on Plowman
  6. I would offer TMac for a top 3 pick if they wanted a Key back
  7. I highly doubt 'the next Buddy' would be in the pick range of 20 - 70..... Would be a top 10 if recruiters thought that were the case
  8. Settle down champ, I was just taking the pi$$
  9. Why not throw in Morton, Bennell and Jetta and ask for pick #5 instead?
  10. Jamar will be giving away allot of frees based on rule #3
  11. Sure would. I would see it as a direct swap from Watts for Hogan. Hogan being the player that we always had hoped Watts would become.
  12. As long as we hang onto Evans im happy. Evans > Gysberts
  13. Interesting article on MFC site has Stringer as potential pick 15 - 25 http://www.melbournefc.com.au/tabid/7415/default.aspx?newsid=149689 May still be around at 20 it seems
  14. I didn't say our NQR's could specifically land a target, I said that we should get value or currency for them. Any of our NQR's should be capable of landing a late draft pick of anything which could be on-traded later as part of a package.
  15. Why not use him as my example? Skinny talented kid with potential rated 2nd - 3rd rounder. Perfect BP first round recruit. Talk about going all high and mighty, You turned 'If BP was still in charge he would potentially take Barry at #4' into 'you shouldn't use a recent MFC recruit as the butt of a 'joke' over reacting much? and yes that is twisting what I said but if you want to see it that way then go for your life.
  16. It would have been a damning recruit if BP was in charge and had taken him at #4 (Which is something he potentially could have done) Please don't twist what I say like that, it ain't cool
  17. How is that burn? If BP was in charge we wouldn't have already recruited him...
  18. I think we have a few more NQR'S up as trade bait on top of that and i hope that the MFC can sell those players well. We are only 1/3rd through the trade period so the MFC could have some form of timeline they are working on with more to unfold as the period progresses. Could be some other potential players are have our eyes on which the media are yet to sniff out.
  19. Next year we will only have 1 high pick most likely remember, unless we do so sh#t and get another PP which is unlikely. I would imagine we will take pick #4 as a mid and next year around pick #6-8 as a complimenting mid to debut with Hogan. Could even result in 2 top 5 picks 2 years straight. (Viney & Pick 4 this year) and (Hogan and First rounder next year)
  20. I want the MFC to be able to get currency for our NQR's like many other teams are. We can't just rely on high picks, as most years we will not have the picks we do this year. We need to get value for our NQRs in some form
  21. As long as Whitfield, Toumpas and Wines don't go 1, 2 and 3 then I will be happy. I wonder who BP would draft at pick #4 if he was still in charge. My guess is that he would have had Barry shortlisted for pick 4
  22. Still in the works I would imagine. Hoping the MFC has the same mind frame as me and doesn't want to part with pick 20 and instead is trying to use our NQR's as currency instead.
  23. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/more-news/exit-dawes-stuck-shut-at-collingwood/story-e6frf9jf-1226494724164?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+HeraldSunAflMelbourne+%28Herald+Sun+%7C+AFL+-+Melbourne%29 Pies playing hardball and may want more then just pick 20. Don't know how they will justify that though with Wellingham being pick 17 and a hell of a better player then Dawes is.
