Paywall so don’t know her reasons. Is she from WA originally? More money? I don’t understand the appeal otherwise.

she should stay with us and remain a one club player. Try to win another flag. She’s still good enough to go around with us for another year or two at least.

Article does not mention any reason BDA

Fremantle could stand to be one of the big beneficiaries of Melbourne’s AFLW grand final victory with premiership Demon Karen Paxman believed to be weighing up a move west.

Speculation emerged within the Dockers camp that the five-time All-Australian could consider a shift to Western Australia on the back of Melbourne’s four-point win over Brisbane in Sunday’s decider.

The West Australian understands the 34-year-old is close friends with Fremantle’s player development manager Claire Heffernan.

The Demons are said to be aware of Paxman’s situation but will hope to convince their two time best-and-fairest to remain in red and blue given a timeframe is yet to be set for the AFLW sign-and-trade period.

Paxman’s management could not be reached for comment.

The potential addition of Paxman would be a major coup for the Dockers, who have struggled for outside run after losing winger Steph Cain to Essendon.

Anyone give a copy and paste job or summary to this link thanks.

Latest word: Every draft prospect your club could snare

    MELBOURNE

    Draft picks: 13, 37
List needs: Key forward, key defender
Who could be available at first pick: Matthew Jefferson, Mattaes Phillipou, Jedd Busslinger, Lewis Hayes
Who’s in the mix after that: Charlie Clarke, Harvey Gallagher, Jed Hagan, Blake Drury

With Sam Weideman’s departure to Essendon during the trade period, the Demons went after Western Bulldogs swingman Josh Schache as a back-up key forward. That spot still looks a weakness on their list but there look like being few options on the table at pick 13 unless Victorian key forward Matthew Jefferson slips outside the top-10. South Australian Mattaes Phillipou is also more likely to be a top-10 pick, but would appeal as a goalkicking midfielder. Alternatively, a young key defender could be targeted for life beyond Jake Lever and Steven May. West Australian Jedd Busslinger and Victorian Lewis Hayes are both exciting prospects in that department.

Latest word: The Demons are targeting what shapes as a potential ‘Super Draft’ in 2023, already holding two first-round selections and two second-round selections in that draft.

Essendon will either trade 22 up ahead of a Davey bid or out to picks in the 30/40’s is my guess. But yes, 37 won’t move far if at all

Any idea if there are any academy players from QLD or Sydney who could be bid on before 37 DS?

Thank you for this excellent analysis! 🙂👍

This really helps to paint an overall "big picture" of the Melbourne Demons' AFL list and where we sit regarding list management and draft picks.

I am going to take back my grumbling about MFC List Manager Tim Lamb (I listened to his interview with SEN Radio) regarding the Luke Jackson trade. In the end, we got the best deal that we could of due to the circumstances. Overall, we should be in a strong position for this year's draft as well as next year's draft too.

Fingers crossed we can obtain some good young recruits with draft picks 13# and 37#. 🤞

My only question is......will draft pick 37# end up being a pick in the late 20's or early 30's due to Brisbane banking up on draft picks so that they have enough points to obtain Father-Son pick Will Ashcroft with the number 1# pick in this year's AFL National Draft? 🤔

No worries mate 👍. Ashcroft, Fletcher & Davey will go before our 37. Brisbane have 34, 35 & 36, Essendon have 22. They will be gone once father sons are bid on but not sure if Davey will be bid on before 22. I have no idea if there are any good academy players from BL, GCS, GWS or Sydney that a team will bid on before 37. If not our pick will be 36 once fs bids have been matched for Ashcroft, Fletcher & Davey.

Smith has worn 44 for 7 years can't see him changing now really, or the chin moving out of 37 for the same reason, particularly while gawny is his player sponsor ;)

Ahh well in that case maybe he does consider it, hunt did have it for his entire career at mfc to date so u might be onto something

it was available when we drafted him as howes has it, think it was just one of those things, higher draft picks get first choice or he didnt want to live in dads shadow and instead make his own name for himself

I also thought Smith might change, he has had a horrid run with injuries in the 44, he might want 29 now his old mans jumper number is available
