I don't have a best. Most shattering is still 2004 though.
1987 Prelim for me
-
I'm with WYL, 1987 easily...followed by 2000. WYL, we blew it in 1990 mate. We beat Hawthorn in the Elim and a had a weeks break when the Pies drew with WCE...the lost to WCE at Waverley, We had a tough draw in 94, we wre never going to beat the Eagles in WA....imagine if Jakovich was fit that year!!!

Darren Bennett to win us the game against Essendon at Windy Hill.
One of the best Demons wins ever.
Excellent win, remember it fondly, Ricky Jackson destroyed the Bombers while Madden and O'Dwyer belted the hell out of each other for 4 quarters.

Bret Bailey, 4th Quarter, 1987 Panasonic Cup Night Grand Final
-
Froggy Crompton, 4th Quarter, Melbourne v Collingwood, 1964 GF
Allen Jakovich, 4th Quarter, Melbourne v West Coast, 1994 H&A

Adem Yze, 4th Quarter, Melbourne v Carlton, 2000 SF
Cameron Bruce, 4th Quarter, Melbourne v Carlton, 2000 SF

Brian Wilson & Robbie Flower both had broken collar bones after that game, so i don't believe we had any show against Carlscum.
Not to forget that Garry Lyon and Alan Johnson were out injured as well.

PM Nasher DN9. He is the wiz with this sort of biz!
Thanks Rhino, will do.

Hi guys, i'm new to the board and just thought i'd ask those who can remember, What was the Demons game you attended?
Mine was Round 18, 1981. The main thing i can remeber about the game was that Jacko kicked 4 and Healy and Crosswell 3 a piece. Unfortuantely the Demons lost by about 5 goals, Healy and Paul O'Brien were our best.

Great. It's not just me, I think lots of posters would benefit from such easy accessible lists
But its really up to an administrator to put them on the server (your personal upload space wouldn't be big enough I dont think) and create a sticky
Maybe an administrator could give your profile more upload space. That way you could easily maintain them
Lets see if an admin picks up on this first
Sure mate, wlll happily update and upload the docs on a regular basis if the Admins are interested

Hassa Mann's shocker post-Gabbo run in the 1964 Grand Final (from directly in front) which could have put us back in front with a few minutes remaining. We finally strung some 'beautiful football' together courtesy Barassi and Bourke only to see Hassa miss. Fortunately Neil Crompton stepped into history shortly after.
On the flip side;
1964 second last H&A round. Melbourne vs Hawthorn. Hassa Mann kicks a freakish goal in the dying moment to win the game for Melbourne. A week later, at the end of the H&A seaosn, Melbourne finished top, and Hawthorn finished 5th (missed the final 4). If Hassa Mann's kick had missed, Melbourne would have finished 5th, missing the finals and Hawthorn would have finished on top.

Yeats, Campbell and Eishold made monumental blunders in the last quarter.
I still remember Robbie Flower waving his arms around in anger towards Tony Campbell as he sprayed that shot, Flower was in the goal square on his own.

DN9 this is just perfect for quick reference and so complete
I tried with the editor 'paste from word' function and it looked ok in the editor but lost all formatting when posted
This should absolutely be a sticky on the board
Could an adminstrator save this word file on the server, make a sticky and link directly to it so it is easy to use?
Would still rely on DN9 to update each year if he didn't mind......what do you think? ....OK by you?
Thanks daisycutter. That would be no problem at all as i update all my documents every match, i have been doing it for years. I have some others if you are interested. Guernsey numbers of every player that has played for the club (about 40 pages)and every single Melbourne players games and goals total (about 30 pages)...a few others as well...let me know if you would like me to post them.

Yes Alan Johnson scored a perfect 10 for that game at the B&F that year! David Williams was the man, and it was Murray Wrenstead who missed for Wet Coke. That final is etched in my brain as i was finally able to watch a Melbourne Collingwood final the week after at the 'G. It was a beautiful thing.
You're right, it's a bit of a blur after the Lyon goal, great times....i still can't believe that Sean Wight is no longer with us.

That looks great DN and nicely formatted too (pit forum editor didn't allow table functions)
Will have a close look when I find time
Thanks
No problem mate

aah yes the duke. That '88 elim was such a surreal game. I was at work in the newsroom & actually walked outside for a smoke on the fire escape after Earl missed that one, we were done. As i lit my cig i heard a huge roar and bolted back inside. Stunning handball get & kick from G. Lyon
It certainly was, from memory it was the great Alan Johnson who bombed it long to the top of the square and David Williams got the hanball out to Lyon...great moment...thankfully David Hart missed that last shot at goal

Tony Campbell, 4th quarter, Preliminary final, 1987
Greame Yeats, 4th quarter, Preliminary final, 1987
