  1. Yeah where do I send donations? You've gotta be kidding!

$30,000-$35,000 is a standard salary for plenty of graduate positons out there & those people have slaved away at uni for 4, 5 or 6 years. Apprentices get even less.

These are 17 year old kids with zero qualifications or experience, why should they be getting paid more than uni graduates? They don't do any more hours than any other rookie trying to make a name for themselves within a professional organisation.

It may be tough as a mature-age rookie but thats not different to a mature-age uni student or mature-age apprentice, big deal.

I'd also love to know who the rookie that got paid $32,500 p/a but was "pretty much bringing home $1,200 a month" is... um... try $2,200 mate. But don't let the truth get in the way of a good story.

How about an article on the factory workers raising families of five on less?

You have got to be kidding!

These guys if lucky will have an average job span of 5 years.

So don't tell me they are being overpaid.

They're putting a lot on hold in the hope that they may make it.

And if they don't, then they will have to look at other employment opportunities.

Most are doing other studies as well in case all else fails.

  2. I believe the person spruiking Garland was with you: all I can say he is a great judge as Neeld had placed Garland in the midfield in the last session of the day with specialist skill coaching from Royal along with the other midfielders including Morton!

To quote The "Almost Great" Mark Neeld. I don't know any players at Melbourne. It's a clean slate so all positions are up for grabs.

I keep saying do not expect the same team you saw last season.

January will bring a lot more surprises and don't you think that would be good?

We certainly do not want more of the same tripe as last year. We certainly may have the same playing group +3 or 4, but the positions and roles will certainly be different. That is why all the reports going around are mentioning different players in different positions.

  3. I was wondering what had happened to Travis Tuck and about the fact that no club seemed to be interested in him.

Apparently, we still are - Dons set to draft Liston winner.

And good luck to Shane Valenti. He's such a hard worker - he really deserves another chance!

I was wondering that myself, especially with Satterly on board.

Is he still training with werribee? I haven't noticed him with us.

  4. Clutterbuck will be a commentators nightmare!! Heat of the battle quick play you wait.

As long as he goes to a club i will smile...

Yeah, and he also has a dance song already.

    Do the Clutterbuck,

    Do the Clutterbuck,

if you cannot get a kick

    then you're outa luck.

Ok that's the start get it going

  5. Martin Flanagan - A great Irish name.

How could he go wrong writing such a wonderful story about the battles of a Champion Irishman.

The thing I gained most from this piece is how strong Sam is.

I am quite certain that the strength Jimma has shown,is enhanced by the strong character of this wonderful woman.

If anyone of any less strength and support had been around him. I don't think he would have made it this far.

    Keep Fighting Jimbo & Sam

    Love you both.

  6. With a new player training with us for 1 session before the Rookie draft will that throw predictions out? Then again who has made a prediction anyway?

3 and 3/4 days to go.

    Here we go!

Williams, Couch & Clutterbuck. we just have to have a name to laugh about.

If we have a fourth I don't care. Life stops at a clutterbuck.

H_T feel free to edit spelling mistakes. I can take it.

  7. I heard that High Altitude training for 2 weeks is only beneficial if you can have a room built which gives gives you the similar atmosphere for when you get back home.

Otherwise you ned to spend at least 6 weeks in High Altitude to gain full benefit.

Apparently the Filth have such a room at "Wespac"

    Has anyone heard differently?

  8. Slightly different post on Friday Training.

I live too close to Vic Park, a place where I walk my dog and let him defecate on the Filths Soil ( I do pick it up).

Today the "Homeless Bummers" were training there - this is their new training venue until Tullamarine gets up and running.

At 10:30 they all went inside to hit the showers. It was warm but no warmer than our training on Wednesday at Casey.

I don't know if they were tapering off for Xmas but the efforts were pretty pathetic. And some of the set plays they were practising, my god they wont trouble the scoreboard much this year. Their intensity throughout their session was no more than 50% of the training our boys have been doing.

I actually came home with a smirk on my face.

  9. Doesn't Jimmy just put life in a different perspective.

All the bitchiness that goes on in life including on these forums. For what purpose?

It makes you just sit back take a deep breath and thank God that you and your family are healthy.

My prayers are with you Jimmy, let's hope that you conquer the mountain. No-one deserves it more than you.

  10. Firstly, thanks Joeboy and Freak for your reports. They're most welcome and very telling.

Secondly, to those who think we have Luke Williams training with us, you must have gone back a few years in a time machine.

The Williams we have on the Permission To Train List is Leigh Williams from Norwood in the EFL.

Luke Williams played for us in the early 00's under Neale Daniher and was much loved on Demonland - especially those of us who attended games at Trevor Barker Beach Road Oval where (alas) he performed at his best.

Sorry about that guys. It was I who first mentioned Luke.

I asked one of the (older) attendants about that blonde guy built like a brick s$#@ house.

Whether that was Leigh Williams. His answer was you either mean Leigh Brown or Luke Williams.

It wasn't until I posted my thread that I realised my mistake and thought then it was too late to change.

    How right I was.

(and no I know Browny is not a blonde)

  11. Don't jump the gun just yet.

Let's find out who is in the leadership group first.

Like most I would think Trengove is a monty in a couple of years.

But Beamer has the runs on the board as an onfield lead by example type.

Shocking in front of the camera though. (Ditto Sylvia)

Grimes if fit gets a chance.

We need a midfielder someone who is around the play most of the time to show direction.
