  1. And what really pisses me off about this line of thought: 'We just need to get more games into them' is that we never will. Most of them won't be there in 50 games. And then whoever is 2014/5 coach will say it again. It might be true to a point, but it's also a self fulfilling prophesy: tell the team they can't do it yet and they'll prove you right. Sometimes it's better that they don't realise how little a chance they have. * I used your post to expand on something that has bugged me for a bit. It was a general response, and not one aimed at your post.
  2. And it still added more to the conversation than your effort.
  3. Julian De Stoop And he would be? I mean seriously... we're just a whipping boy right now. We're an easy touch. If AD or the MCC were saying this stuff I'd really worry, but Jupiter De Snotwhat... nah.
  4. Yeah. Damn that limited interweb thing. Can't go wasting it when there are kids in Africa with dial up.
  5. We've been 2 or 3 years away since 2007. And we'll be 2 or 3 years away in 2017. We can't fix this. We are dysfunctional from the board, to the FD, to the coaches, to the players, to the supporters. Don picking a successor is the worst of all possible outcomes.
  6. I liked it - funny and true. Can't say that I've got much time for the "mummy! that man posted something I didn't like" crowd though.
  7. Er yeah..... Is that you Don?
  8. Because Don wants to hand pick his successor, and Jeff interferes with that plan. It's vomit making egomania as bad as anything Kennett ever produced, and I can't wait to vote out him and anyone that he backs.
  9. Drugs are bad, mkay?
  10. Brave call. Ralphie has really gone out on a limb there.
  11. And yet I wouldn't be surprised to hear that he'd been given a three year extension.
  12. A hell of a lot of football is follow the leader. If Geelong picked Russian midgets then the rest of us would at least punt on one of them. Better to follow the leader and get it wrong, than not and get it wrong, I guess. I'd love for us to pick our own song to dance to for once but that has its own risks. But that's story for another thread.
  13. Flower by a mile. Got even better with better players around him. He'd be the best of the best if he'd played in a power team. Best from another team: Gaz snr. He could tear teams apart with that blank look on his face. Marking, kicking, strength, finesse, whatever. He just did it all better than the rest, and he did it with the handicap of not having a brain.
  14. And yet you have 3859 posts, and you happily go the throat of those that you have issue with. Mate, it's both barrels to us when you think you are right, but if you make an idiotic comment we're supposed to back away because it doesn't matter? Lightweight.
  15. Ridiculous to compare the two. Absolutely and completely ridiculous. If that is the best you have then it would be best if you just gave up right now. Are you seriously suggesting that - without any other comparisons that hold water - because one coach had a mediocre run and was under a bit of pressure, that no other team that is having a horror run and with a coach that is a dead man walking should make a head coach change? Really? If it was Bomber coaching us, and we were in this mire then I'd listen to you pointing back to his history, and how he deserved the benefit of the doubt because of his record. Maybe. You judge Neeld on his performance at this club under these pressures, and nothing else. Anything else is just grabbing at rainbows.
  16. I find most of it funny. Funnier if it was someone else, but what can you do? It is what it is - as a semi famous person once said.
  17. I don't know where I sit with Neeld. I'd like to see something - anything - to convince me he has a clue. I agree with Jackson's 'clean air' approach, and feel we really need to back the CEO on this, but for how long is the real question. In any event he's still low on my list of changes I'd prefer to see. I'd like to see a new look at the top before anything else is done. Without a firm and competent hand on the tiller we're a club made up of disparate factions all trying to compete for seniority in a sick, and maybe dying, club. That worries me much more than the coach and a couple of players.
  18. Not for me. When I was asked to work Monday I jumped at the chance. I'm pretty over watching the team humiliate itself. I'd rather the cash.
  19. Dunno what I feel, but I have more faith in him than anyone else at the club right now. Or maybe it's just because he's the only one there that hasn't burnt me (us).
  20. I'd like to believe that all levels of the club are on the same page. I haven't seen that for a long while now, so to see 3 or so months of that would refuel the fire in my belly. I need it. I'm beat. I really don't have much left but frustration so I need hope - real hope - and not words but actions. 90 days of that will make a big, big difference.
  21. I think I might use that.
  22. If you supported the Tank then stop bitching because the blame is at your feet. If you didn't support the Tank then demand that those int he club that did are thrown out and are never allowed back. It's as simple as that.
  23. Are you serious? Sure we could. We have a small team of underpaid, over ego'd half arsed professionals working on that right now.
  24. Joke's been around for ages. I've seen it with all sorts of soccer teams or olympic teams used. So this week it's us. Big deal. There is a way to stop it though, if it really bothers people. We could maybe win a game or three, That might help.
  25. Your problem is that you've started with the assumption that football writing is anything more than fluff pieces, gossip or poison press, I still occasionally make that mistake, but I am getting better. I only occasionally hope to see an in depth report on how the tactical zones have change recently, or what greater rotations add to the game, or whatever. I see them write what the clubs. AFL or players say about those things but very, very rarely do I see a proper write up of pros and cons of them that go deeper than that weeks talking points. So 500 words on kick the cripple seems to be easier than showing you aren't the smartest man (or Wilson) in the room.
