Max Gawn Re-Signs Until 2027
Maybe because the club needs to know where it stands financially to be able to attract certain players or sign other extensions like Viney, McVee and May. The more you have planned out, the easier it is to shuffle things around to accommodate other deals. Gawn was never not going to get an extension if he wanted one, we all know this. So why not just get it done instead of wasting your time next year, when perhaps you'll have bigger fish to fry? And who is to say another club won't approach him, the way North approached Viney next year, which will drive up his price? Not saying he would ever leave, but it would give him bargaining power.

My best guess is that post leak, he was told to keep a low profile and not get on his phone. Makes a lot of sense.

I literally cannot stop laughing at the thought that Melbourne would trade Christian Petracca for Beau McCreery and pocket change It sounds like an Adrian Dodoro offer

Jack Viney Extends Contract Until 2028
The response from the club was on Saturday. That is the only response that actually means anything.

You are a national treasure. I will tune into channel 10 news for the first time in a decade to see Adrian quivering as he delivers the news that the MFC is the happiest place on earth.

It's been about 5 hours since I found out Trac was meeting with the players today, where are you Tom Morris? I expected a full rundown of the minutes of the meeting, accompanied by an interpretive dance by now.

Oh please, Clarry was not a problem when he won back to back coaches awards, or 4 B&Fs or 3 AAs There are for sure issues that need to be worked out on both sides, nobody has ever denied it. To every story there are 3 sides. But supporters of this club have a right to feel aggrieved when a well paid leader of the club chooses to air dirty laundry in public via Tom goddamn Morris, as do his teammates. And please stop coming on here and pretending like you are the only one with 'inside' information about what went on in the last off season. You'd be surprised who knows what around here.

Melbourne’s receptionist deserves a pay rise, what with all the calls they have to screen from Tom Morris

I find it interesting that Morris has consistently hid behind the 'but it's unlikely' in regards to him requesting a trade or a trade being done, and now he's saying the club is trying to bring the parties together but there is still work there to be done. He has either backed off on instructions, or he's been told that a deal will not get done so stop burning Trac's bridges with the club

POSTGAME: Rd 23 vs Gold Coast

Why Hawthorn? Hawthorn we could do a deal with, but isn't their first pick going to Barrass? I wouldn't actually want their future 1st as I reckon they'll do very well next year with Trac in their team. As for Collingwood, they have nothing we would take that they would be willing to trade. Quaynor maybe, but they would have to find 2 first rounders to go with that, which seems impossible given they don't even have one- Christian Petracca
Most of the big clubs Trac would be interested in, would have to give up a star player to make room in their cap for him. How do you imagine Carlton fit in his $5mil salary? Collingwood? They have to trade out to make space. This is far more complicated than just satisfying us in a trade, you also need to take on a massive massive contract. - Christian Petracca
