  1. You don’t think the fittest man in football can play another 4 seasons?
  2. Absolutely they are and if you think Goodwin is blind to those stats then you’re wrong. Doesn’t mean a new coach will magically fix the issues and we also need to look at the why behind these stats. Last I checked Goody isn’t an inside mid anymore. We have Clarry struggling for known reasons, we lost Trac halfway thru the year, Viney is either aging or carrying something, Sparrow hasn’t stepped up, we lost Gus, Salem who they ear marked to play midfield couldn’t get his body right. Etc etc etc. We need to regenerate the midfield.
  3. I left them a really nice "why are you leaving" message
  4. If Clarry and Trac return to their best, our window is absolutely very much still open. Those two are good enough to build a premiership team around, and I am very bullish about a lot of the younger players who are already on our list. We absolutely need to nail this off season, not just from a trading and draft perspective, but from a fitness perspective too. And of course you need a lot of luck. Injuries will and do kill all teams.
  5. We all saw how Dimma went when he lost the top end talent at Richmond, and despite their 9000 first round picks, GC have again done SFA this season. Longmire has won the same number of flags as Goodwin in 13 seasons as coach, and has the advantage of academy picks. Remove the players Sydney got via COLA and the academy, and lets see how he goes. Likewise Scott inherited a premiership dynasty and won a flag in his first year, but it took him 11 season to win another one. I really don't understand why fans thinks that a new coach = more success. History will show you that in many cases, new coach does not in fact equal instant or faster success. Look how many coaches Carlton went through. Each one made them no better, until Voss inherited a good list thanks to multiple years at the bottom end of the draft. And still, no flags. GWS have had every advantage known to man in terms of drafting, and yet 0 flags despite 2 grand final appearances. Freo were a bee's dick away from getting rid of Longmuir last year, and they're a flag chance this year. And then you have perennial 'always the bridesmaid never the bride' in Fagan and Hinkley. Winning a flag is bloody hard. We won one in 57 years. And now we want so sack the coach who got us that flag, because he hasn't won another one since? Like how many current coaches have won more than 1 flag with the same club?
  6. I can see that, I can equally see him playing until he's 35 because fitness comes easy to him, and he manages his outside interests just fine while playing, which allows him to financially supports those endeavours.
  7. He's far too young to retire and literally the fittest player going around. Everyone needs to calm down, it was reported that we are in talks with him, and clearly there is no rush as we are not concerned he will leave. We had other priorities with guys who were being chased hard like Petty. Ed strikes me as the type of guy who screens his manager's calls and will eventually remember to sign a new contract when he finds time between bouldering. He's a good enough player that if there was any indication he may leave, there would be a lot of noise being made about it in the media. Or if he was trying to get more money, his manager would float him around.
  8. Given we are out of finals contention and I expect the Pies will be too by round 24, I would think we get the Sunday 3:20pm slot.
  9. His ankle looked 3 times its normal size on Friday. Maybe, just maybe, the big guy can take an early mark and rest before the whole limb falls off.
  10. I'll be there on Saturday night. I'll make sure to turn the lights off on my way out.
  11. This incident has totally changed how I feel about this game. Something died in me that night. It still eats at me what that POS did and how he got rewarded for it. I hope Gus finds his peace ❤️
  12. Nah that honour I’m reserving to junior boxing champion Jake Melksham when he decides to call it a day.
  13. If Tmac is gonna retire this season, I would like to see him go out in a blaze of glory by kicking Cox square in the nuts.
  14. It’s not just about tonight. Look at their form. They’ve only beaten North in the last 5 weeks.
  15. Who says that everything is ok? I’d like to see a quote saying that. But everything not being perfect doesn’t equate to “SACK THE COACH”. Nothing is ever as good or as bad as it seems. Especially in football.
  16. Yes which goes to show how hard this competition is. Not one side this season has shown up and delivered week in week out. They’ve lost 5 of their last 6 games, with their only win coming against North.
  17. Me watching the score line and reading that May broke his ribs again and realizing we play Port next week
  18. It’s the same ribs as before, so it may not have taken much to re-injure them. I suggest it’s season over for him.
  19. Where’s Sydney? They haven’t showed up either. In fact I think they forgot to board the plane.
  20. Imagine the melts here if Goody lost 3 GFs! He is a brilliant coach, please don’t think I don’t rate him. I really do. But if we judge a coach on flags and flags alone, he isn’t better than Goodwin. And it seems that’s what everyone wants to judge Goodwin on so… As you said, the ridiculous advantage they’ve gained from the academies tho, means that Longmire has it easier than a lot of other coaches.
  21. What makes him the best coach in the league? He’s only won 1 flag in what, 13 years? Would Sydney be this consistent in terms of finals appearances if they weren’t afforded talent for peanuts via the academies?
  22. Oh but I thought Sydney were gonna win it because we gave them JJ and Grundy for free 🙄
  23. I wonder if the Sydney fans are gonna call for Longmire to get sacked. Currently losing 45-0 to Port 😳
  24. Everyone wanted Goody sacked in 2020. Including he who shall not be named. We got some better assistants in place and Burgess and we won the flag in 2021 and have been, until this year, the most successful and best performed team of the last 3 years. And just a reminder, that we haven’t had back to back flags since the Tigers, who were absolutely enabled by the Covid era and a shortened season in 2020. And prior to that you have to go back to Geelong/Hawks era. Dynasties are incredibly rare in the modern era with the length of the season and the compromised draft.
