Berry is a bog ordinary footballer. If they want to run with him in their finals side then it gives us an advantage. Would you play Harmes to shut down Neale at the expense of say Gus or Sparrow? Good luck to the Lions. They’ve lost a lot of class and pace with Ashcroft going down. Doubt they’ll play a mid in a purely negative role in finals, but it may happen again. With Fritta back is reduces the need to play Trac forward. So they shut down Clarry and Viney, Trac and Gus get a better run instead. I’m not worried. The crack at McGuiness IMO was because he was going the man not the ball. Holding and scragging Clarry illegally behind play all day. I hope in finals the best umpires don’t allow that to happen.

Why? We don’t need to win this game we just need to get run into their legs and cohesion up forward.

Clarry won’t get tagged in finals like that tho. Which finals side is going to have a run with player focused solely on shutting down Clarry over winning the ball?

Not to mention that in the last quarter Mitchell moved the tag off Clarry, because he obviously felt they couldn't win the game if we continued to drive so much attack from half back, so he tagged Rivers instead and Clarry spent like 10 minutes being Clarry and we win the game anyway. You don't beat the top sides with a tag, because the top sides do not rely on one player to win games. We literally beat the top 2 teams this year without Oliver.

Grundy's rating is a joke. He cost us very little and saved our [censored] when Gawn was injured, while getting Gawn to peak Gawn at the pointy end of the season. And the irony is, we will get as much if not more in return for him than we paid to get him, should he choose to leave.

Goodwin was right tho. McGuinness had no interest in getting the ball himself, which is why he has done such a good job shutting down players. At no point did Goodwin said he didn't do a good job, but it's much easier to tag when you don't care about winning possessions yourself, which was the point he was making. The bottom line is, top clubs would never utilise this type of tagging role, because they would never risk playing 'a man down', they would rather just back their own systems in, while trying to limit the influence of the opposition's key players.

If we land Oscar Allen (is this the Allen you are referring to?), Demonland will crash. I just cannot see on what planet WCE let him go, and he is contracted.

Also his anger says yes. Red heads have been bullied their entire childhood. They grow up to be very angry people.

The only thing Kane Cornes doesn't have a problem with is Port Adelaide cheating the concussion protocol. He is about as relevant as his footy club has been in finals this decade.

Well you get priority 3 for GF tickets. Priority one is gone and has been gone for a long long time to those of us who have committed for years.

True, but I think the key to that would be finding a good contested marking CHF which could well be Petty. I think our midfield can dominate playing with a poorer ruckman, but it’s the marking dominance of Gawn down the line that is so important to us.

Why? Our list is primed to continue to challenge. We only have two key players who I suspect will slow down significantly in the next year or two, in May and Gawn. And we can absolutely go out and try and replace both in trades.

What do you think would happen in 2024 that would lead us to sack a coach who got us 3 top 4 finishes and a flag in the previous 3 seasons? He is literally the most successful coach of the last 3 seasons in the AFL.

Their form is very ordinary. Other than the Giants, they haven’t beaten a top 8 side since round 11 when they beat Carlton (when Carlton was no good).

What’s the jury out on? He’s already delivered us a flag and we are again in the hunt for another. What more do you expect from a coach?

Their arrogance is truly bizarre. Smashed in the granny and barely got to finals thanks to a some lucky breaks. I guess when the AFL is spoon feeding you at every opportunity, you grow into an entitled brat.
