  1. If you don’t know what he was supposed to do, watch the Kosi smother attempt on Hoskin Elliot in that same game. Exactly the same action but Kosi doesn’t barrel into him. He turns and avoids him. Easy done.
  2. A player running wide open kicking inside 50 doesn’t deserve to lose consciousness as a result? Our game is so weak now.
  3. It’s just nice to see this man happy. He went through so much as a young kid. Good that he found his place!
  4. Listen when you lose to Collingwood it takes 48 hours to recover I am still very worried about our forwardline. Roo out and no Gus (so Trac has to play more midfield) and it makes us even less potent. I am not sure where we get our goals from.
  5. So Carlton with the same winning margin as our losing margin. We played a much better team on a ground that doesn’t advantage one side over the other (unlike Carlton playing the G versus an interstate club). Like the Pies, Carlton got lucky that the Swans butchered multiple shots at goal late. I think Carlton play very good high quality football. Are they better than Collingwood tho? No they aren’t. They don’t have the experience nor the foot skills or speed of the Pies. The only thing that will stop us from winning is us. We need to find a way to score at least 12 goals to win.
  6. Yeah how does that grub Tom Morris know about Maynard going over to Gus’ house? I doubt Gus told him 🙄
  7. And very few posters, if any, defended Kosi’s actions in round 1 which didn’t even result in an injury. I thought his actions were very poor, despite him having absolutely no prior history and had he concussed Smith I would have had no qualms with him missing a month. The argument was always that the MRO grades on outcome and in Kosi’s case there was no impact to Smith. If Gus walks up and walks off, Maynard wouldn’t be in trouble even tho his actions showed no duty of care and were very careless.
  8. Gus doesn’t have a history of thuggish behavior If Kosi did that to Maynard the media would want him banned for life
  9. The last smother that ended in a career ending injury was Whelan on Brown. That was a pure accident and a legitimate freak accident. We see attempted smothers 100 times a week. Never does a player end up knocked out as a result. As shown in this thread, Kosi did the same thing against WHE in the same game and yet WHE is still standing. Funny that.
  10. I was only kidding. I too am Jewish and will be attending with the rest of the crew I go with who are also Jewish. My Carlton mates who are Jewish aren’t going tho.
  11. Doubt Mark is thrilled that channel 7 interviewed Maynard post game in an effort to defend his actions, while his son was in the rooms with a possible career ending concussion. I know JB has literally no say in who channel 7 interviews post game tho, so it’s not like it was his call.
  12. Saints can’t take a trick with their injuries either. Massive out.
  13. How many of them had a forwardline sticky taped together by fumes and duct tape? 🫠
  14. This. He would know his poor nephew’s history with head knocks and that his other nephew also had his jaw broken in an AFL game. He would probably know Anita and Danielle fairly well both thru Spud and Gus. He would know how his brother and sister in law would be feeling watching Gus get stretched off and probably in tears in the room afterward. It’s embarrassing how the media conducted itself, but what else is new?! These low IQ bubbling idiots masquerading as commentators, combined with poor cameras and inconsistent umpiring, makes games unbearable.
  15. Let’s not even mention that half the channel 7 team frothing at their mouth were very close to Danny Frawley, who won’t get to walk Danielle down the aisle and see her marry Gus because he ended his life due to the impact of ECT. The utter lack of respect was astounding. I can’t imagine the decision Gus has to make. Nor how his entire family must be feeling.
  16. It should say Sept 11th btw not Sept 1st I assume one ticket per member allocation again. Just FYI Friday night, which I presume is when we play, is Jewish new year. Carlton have a big legion of Jewish supporters who aren’t going to come now because of the scheduling. More tickets for those of us who think religion is for fools 😂 And I get to avoid annoying family dinners so even if we lose that’s a win for me!
  17. Not his fault he had to play a full game. It was obviously not the plan. He is just too inexperienced for mine. Turner didn’t play for the same reason. Poor Bill shouldn’t have either. Would have been fine for a quarter in the last but a full game was too much. Again tho, it wasn’t the plan for Maynard to knock Gus out in the first few minutes. Well it was his plan, not ours 🙄
  18. Do we contest the JVR suspension? Try to argue a low impact grading?
  19. For mine we need experience and good ball use. I’d bring Spargo in. Left field option: AMW and give Kosi more midfield time
  20. A woman doing things outside of the kitchen. How dare she! Footy is a men’s game. Man good. Woman bad.
  21. They need a completely independent and impartial panel. Perhaps an ex umpire? It just needs to be overhauled.
  22. I wonder if there is truth to the whispers that Gus may not play again, if Laura intervened for fear of additional litigation against the AFL. Brayshaw and Frawley are powerful footy names and given Anita is currently in active litigation with the AFL, this can’t be good for their case. If Maynard is allowed to play because his is deemed a reasonable action, and Gus has to retire as a result of repeated head injuries, it only further weakens the position of the AFL in their ongoing legal battles. Gus did not put himself in a situation where brutal force could have been expected such as throw himself into a pack or run backwards for a mark. He was running with the ball in open space trying to kick it away. He has every right to expect to walk away from that without a severe head injury. Whether you think what Maynard did was intentional or just a footy action gone wrong, there is no doubt the consequences of his action could well be catastrophic. The AFL cannot just simply turn a blind eye or succumb to the pressure of the feral Magpie Army. There are far bigger chess pieces in play here.
  23. Concussion protocols and tribunal rulings do not apply to Carlton. Pass jail and collect $100.
