  1. It’s not about winning a hitout, it’s about making sure your opposing ruckman isn’t getting a free run. You don’t want their ruckman taking the ball out of the ruck unopposed.
  2. I’ve really grown to like Toby Greene. He’s grown up and quite frankly he’s a superstar. If he played for a team someone cared about he’d be winning Brownlows. Dane Zorko for mine. I hate him with the fire of a thousand suns. I won’t name all the Pies players I despise because the list is very long. Moore and the Daicos boys are about the only 3 I don’t want to see suffer long miserable unsuccessful careers.
  3. If no Grundy, which is expected, only ruck backup option is Smith. Will have to go with De Koning. God speed.
  4. Nothing more pathetic than has been footballers who achieved absolutely nothing, coming out pretending like footy back in their days was much better because you could just go out and kill an opponent. Good on you and your slightly deformed brain thanks to all the head knocks you’ve suffered. Perhaps footballers in 2023 would prefer to walk away from the game with their own brains fully intact 🙄
  5. Brad Green would be handy too. Could actually kick straight! This is exactly right. We abandoned the 3 tall defense set up which we know works really well, yet we were really good defensively against the Pies. Perhaps they felt that going shorter left too much one on one work for Lever to do, which reduced our ability to intercept. It was also one of Rivers' quietest games in a while.
  6. Yes, there are already multiple lawsuits against the AFL currently happening by ex and apparently also current players over their mishandling of head injuries. Not to mention Gus' mother in law is currently suing the AFL over the exact same thing. If you are her lawyer, are you not having a field day with the idea that Gus could be called upon as a witness? Here is a perfect example of how the AFL does in fact not protect the head, but rather big name players from missing finals.
  7. You mean more bad taste from the man who said it was a good day for the Collingwood football club while reading out a long list of racist behaviour his club was found guilty of for decades?
  8. You're right, I don't think anyone should play like him, and nobody should be inflicting head injuries! It is the most horrific injury you can cause someone deliberately or otherwise. But nothing stopping us from playing outside the lines in other ways. Nobody ever suspended Cox for his vile physical attacks on other players. Twisting Trac's knee deliberately trying to cause hurt. When we meet them next, I implore Trac to do exactly the same to him. Gawn should also knee him in the ribs. Payback.
  9. Tomlinson is slow. He would have played if McKay was not concussed, but he is a poor match up for Silvagni. Turner is actually a much better match up athletically. I too am a fan of Tomlinson and I don't see all the negative aspects that the FD sees, but he needs a specific match up. A lumbering tall like a McKay or a resting ruck. I actually thought he would have been a good matchup for McStay as an example. If we get through to Brisbane, he would need to come in and play, as against Daniher and Hipwood you need two true big talls.
  10. That's exactly right. Good players nominate a club and off they go. Grundy will tell us who he wants to go to, and we will try to get the best possible deal for ourselves, while not actively trying to screw over Grundy because we are not Essendon. We will get it done, but it will be on our terms, or we will be happy to keep him.
  11. No point for the club to say anything. Just go out on the weekend and play the same way Collingwood does, then present the evidence so our players walk free.
  12. The reality is that winning flags is bloody hard. Winning multiple flags in a short period of time is even harder, it's why so few teams have done it. You need absolutely everything to go right to win a flag, and unfortunately after a great run in 2021, a lot has gone wrong since. I think @Chook rightly pointed out that as a fan base we are tired. We have been through more than most other supporters, and we are finally a competitive club, so for things to work so badly against us at every turn is a really bitter pill to swallow. It's also human nature. It's the hope that kills you! But as @Grapeviney so perfectly summed up, we are a resilient bunch. We have broken membership records every year for just about the last decade. Our attendance numbers are strong. We are passionate as they come. It doesn't mean that we don't hurt, that we don't feel angry when there are injustices happening to our club and players. I look at clubs like Geelong and Swans. They get the best armchair rides in the competition, and even they have only managed one flag in the last decade. To be here now, top 4 three years running, still in the hunt, and with a flag only 2 season ago, is a privileged position, but it's also one we fought harder to achieve than most. To say we struggle under the weight is simply not true. We've played plenty of big games and delivered. We've equally played big games and lost. Which club hasn't? Just look at Brisbane and Port. So many top 4 finishes, so little to show for it in the trophy cabinet. Likewise Geelong until last year. It's a tough competition.
  13. Nothing we as supporters say or do has any impact on how the players play. Sure, a big turnout and loud crowd support is influential and helps teams, especially with favourable umpiring, but nobody at the club gives a [censored] how [censored] off or otherwise our supporters are. They play for one another and they are very good at blocking the outside noise. I worry far more about how defeated they are when one of our players goes down with an injury. The care they have for one another is wonderful, but it’s also been detrimental to outcomes of games.
  14. He's contracted, we don't need a bidding war. We have every right to hold him to his contract if we don't get what we want.
  15. If Maynard apparently had no time to make a decision to lessen the hit on Gus, then likewise Gus had no time to move away from Maynard. This argument they kept going on about goes both ways, but not when you are hellbent on getting a Collingwood player off suspension.
  16. Eddie McGuire is the finest example of why the world is a steaming pile of [censored] headed for extinction. This man led an organisation with systemic racism, and is still allowed a platform from which to exist and express his unnecessary views. How utterly embarrassing.
  17. It's very hard fighting the AFL's agenda to get certain teams to win flags. We were the flavour of the year in 2021, the fairy tale story. But we are now yesterday's rubbish.
  18. Nothing surprises me abut this corrupt organisation. The victim blaming here is what makes me the most angry. If there is any justice in this world, the same thing happens in reverse and the tribunal finds the Collingwood player should have grown wings and flown away to protect themselves. Will go down like a cup of warm [censored] no doubt.
  19. If you’re raging about the tribunal, wait for the one sided umpiring on Friday night to help Carlton make the Grand Final.
