The footy knowledge thing strikes me as well. I remember Roos saying around his appointment that Tyler was going through all the film for Melbourne and putting together a list projection. Roos hadn't even taken the job yet. He isn't going to push for 2015 selection, but a rookie slot and let him get into an AFL fitness regime, along with his footy knowledge...could be something special.

My take right now: AFC East: Wide open. Will the Bills continue their run? Will the Jets front seven smash them to it? What about the Pats getting their two lines together? Dolphins aligning it all? AFC North: Similarly open. The Bengals are one of the top two AFC teams for mine, but the Steelers, Ravens and even the Browns could all make noise. AFC South: The Colts' to lose. Titans have issues, the Jags are still in rebuild (Bortle Kombat!) and the Texans have no real QB. AFC West: Denver are leading, but the Chargers look even better and the Chiefs appear to have shaken off some of Week 1. NFC North: The Pack has fallen away but the high-octane offenses of Detroit and Chicago have stepped up. NFC South: Jesus Christ Atlanta. The Saints appear to have lost something, and if Cam doesn't recover the Panthers won't get there. NFC East: Philly are improved, but Washington continue to surprise as do Dallas. NFC West: All of the Cards, Seahawks and 49ers are playoff teams. If the Niners drop many more they'll fall away quickly though.

Nah. They're weird games. Both sides go all-out and they end up being really tough games. We were going great guns then we ran into the Niners at the 'stick last year and it turned into a grind-fight with the Niners just getting up. I'll take Seattle every day in Seattle as Kaepernick can't play in noise, but at Levi's...going to go Niners.

The thing that's most interesting about last weekend (and forgive the homer sound) is that Seattle looks even further ahead of the competition...you have the Pats dropping to Miami and looking average, Denver's first half looking great but their second half terrible, San Francisco only steamrolling because the Cowboys D is awful, Saints dropping to Atlanta...the Seahawks just look so goddamn dangerous by comparison.

On BC, I find it amazing that she's so quick that she's actually pulled up by the jockey so that she 'only' wins by a few lengths. Oh, and the fact that her win was the slowest Orr Stakes time in a few years (as reported on the weekend).
