  1. You've got to love them at Bigfooty. It's only June but someone's already posted a Phantom Draft based on current ladder positions. Here it is courtesy of Chris25 - A mock draft in June

#2 GWS - Jonathon Patton (Forward - Eastern Ranges)

#3 GWS - Chad Wingard (Midfielder - Sturt)

#4 Gold Coast - Matthew Buntine (Defender - Dandenong)

#5 GWS - Billy Longer (Ruckman - Northern Knights)

#6 Port Adelaide - Todd Elton (Forward - Dandenong)

#7 GWS - Devon Smith (Midfielder - Geelong)

#8 Brisbane - Hayden Crozier (Forward - Eastern Ranges)

#21 West Coast - Max Duffy (Forward - East Fremantle)

    #22 Sydney - F/S Tom Mitchell (Midfielder - Claremont)

#23 Carlton - F/S Dylan Buckley (Midfielder - Northern Knights)

#24 Hawthorn - Jimmy Webster (Midfielder - Glenorchy)

#25 Collingwood - Louis Eggar (Midfielder - Federal)

#26 Geelong - Michael Bussey (Forward - Eastern Ranges)

Is Coniglio the one who was considering boycotting the draft to avoid GWS? Also thought the younger Maric might be up there.

Aside from that this is ridiculous, must be a Port supporter.

  2. All this whining about the character of another teams supporters (excepting the racial abuse and abuse of Jimmy which are both serious) is just encouraging the stereotype of us Melbourne supporters as precious, snobby etc. I just hope this forum is rarely read by outsiders.

  3. Bad luck to the lad, had some bad fortune. But from a playing perspective, hopefully he doesn't come back. A list clogger who doesn't offer anything that we don't have, and is nowhere near in our best 28 players. .

Doesn't offer anything we don't have? How about a quick crumbing forward who can kick goals? Sure he's been hampered by injuries and personal issues but when he is fit he adds a dimension to our forward line that no one else on the list can.

  4. Why the heck is supporting a player silly? [censored] hell. We're supporters for a reason. Ridiculous statements.

Just my opinion that clapping every player off the ground (not because of a good performance by the player but just for the sake of it) is way over the top.

  5. I think the hardest thing for Sherman (or any player done for RV) would be having to front up at training the next day at his own club. Every club has players of indigenous and other ethnic backgrounds. Would be highly embarrassing for him I'd imagine.

But I agree with Artie, if someone apologizes it's best to accept it and give them another chance.

Good point, hopefully the embarrassment serves as a lesson to him as well.

  6. But he isn't a rookie...

But the term 'rookie' can refer to a young inexperienced player. I suppose if someone uses the term in regards to football it should mean a player who is rookie-listed though.

  7. Love him.

However, hated the Melbourne supporters clapping him running to the bench after one contested mark and goal in the second quarter. It makes us look like a joke

I understand what you mean to an extent. I was not at the Richmond game but at the Fremantle game every time a player came off the ground there was a round of applause, which is just silly.

On another note, great game again Jack, you are well and truly on the road to Super Stardom :)

  8. This was a freak event that won't happen again, but I'm pleased all the same. If he can keep up a high level of defensive work in the forward 50, there'll be no need for him to be dropped again. There's never been any doubt in my mind that he's got all the tools to be an excellent defensive forward, this year it's just been a matter of waiting for it all to come together. I wouldn't expect double figure f50 tackles every week, but I don't think 4 or 5 is too much to ask for.

    Keep it up Ricky.

4 or 5 tackles I50 each week is still a great effort - would be extremely pleased if he was able to do that for the rest of the season.

  9. List clogger.

I definitely think he had no future with us, but as a stop gap player whilst we were busy drafting better forwards I think he played best leading up from half forward. Especially since this saved all us fans the agony of watching him butchering almost every set shot.

  10. I'm about to head over to the states for 40 days.

    i'm returning on August 13th

when i return home, what will the papers be writing about Melbourne?

After 7 wins in a row, the Demons have gone from inconsistant pretenders to one of the prime premiership contenders!

  11. Maybe a bit controversial, what about trading Davey to GWS for one of the 17 yo picks.

Relieves some of our salary gap concerns to help keep the younger brigade. Most would agree that Davey is not what he once was and therefore this could be a win:win

I'm not totally against this idea but I highly doubt the club would do it, especially as we are light on for on-field experience and leadership as it is. Also he is too important as a mentor for the indigenious boys in my opinion.

  12. Well I thought Max has showed amazing ability and surety for a new kid on the block.

Men his height are usually embarrassing at this early stage in their career - but not Max.

He has alredy given notice that he has the nouse and flexibility to be a force in the football world.

Surely a coup for our recruiters - what number did he go at? ( and who could have had him?)

To say he's stiff is like saying the GFC caused some pain.

Went mid thirties I think so effectively anyone could have picked himup!

  13. That may be but Gawn has no extra ability (right now) over Spencer that would put him ahead.

So while Spencer is there, Gawn is behind him.

Interesting, what do you base this on? You are probably right but I feel that now they have seen Max perform on the big stage, he will be the priority for development through game time and the focus as Jamars heir.

In my opinion Max showed more than Spencer already has.

  14. He better be patient.

Martin and Spencer will be difficult to push past at such a young age.

I think Gawn actually has more of a future in the side while Spencer is fast becoming a surplus player.

  15. Reckon the sub will be Morton, or Gysberts. I'm hoping for Morton. MacDonald is also a possibility, being named on the bench but I think he is definitely too important defensively and on the rebound.

Also Bennell and Nicholson were named on the ground so they can't be the sub.

  16. Not sure who wrote the article comparing Dustin Martin, Cotchin and Vickery to Scully, Trengove and Watts in todays Age, but once again we came across second best. Vickery kicked one more goal than Watts on the weekend but apparently dominates his position - "something Watts has not yet learnt to do". I don't disagree with that statement, I wouldn't say Tyrone has dominated a position any more than Jack. Hope Killer unleashes this weekend.

Don't know if this has been covered in another thread, but I hate the way some of the media treat this club. On One Week At A Time last night Lloyd didn't have a good word to say about the dees, and instead just raved on about how poor Freo were. There's no denying they played crap, but an 89 point win deserves more than "At least they didn't over-celebrate this time".

At the end of the day, it means nothing when they run out on the park, but I hate pricks like Lloyd not giving our young players the recognition they deserve for good performances such as the Freo game.

Don't post on here much but there's my two cents. Smash 'em this weekend MFC

Totally agree. Virtually every win we fight for, the media is always telling us how terrible the other team was - I hardly ever hear that 'Melbourne outplayed their opponent' or 'Melbourne were great today' etc. This lack of credit where I believe it is due really annoys me.
