  1. The players are paid employees of the club, that we as members fund. Their feedback is crucial, but they do not make the decisions. Praise to the board for taking a decision (who knows if it is the right one?)

There has been no clear statement by the board about 'why' one was saved, one was sacked. No word addressing the inner turmoils or political unrest.

Crisis management means communicating and dealing with the perception rather than any reality. The Perception STINKS like a rotting fish. The board has failed us all on this score.

Bringing in Garrrrrrry Lyon may help, but doesnt help us, the paying members, feel any better about what is going on.

    Board performance rating: FAIL.

Time to step up, be honest and show us how you are going to FIX any issues that exist. Otherwise, great men or not, you should go.

I HATE learning about my great club from media monkeys like Caro, Hutchie and the like.

  2. It makes sense to swing the axe on Dean now, rather than wait. The club can get on with finding a suitable replacement before the end of the season. It would be a waste to hold onto Dean until the end of the year, and miss the opportunity to recruit the best available option, who may get snapped up by someone else. If they knew Dean was not the man, then he is not the man.

Who else is 'not the man'???

  3. So far, it is all hearsay! Just because Caroline Wilson 'intimates' something (the protest) does not mean it is true. I have no facts about what is going on. Havent seen anyone else putting too many facts out there. Mainly conjecture, innuendo and rumour.

I want to know what the hell is going on, and if any of this crap is real.

  4. ROck bottom. It is always darkest before the Dawn. I really hope this is the bottom, and that the playing group and coaching staff begin the process of brining us back to sunshine. Interested in how the club responds to this, in the press, toward the members and internally.

Never before have we had such a pathetic on field result to catalyse either advancement or change.

  5. Four key influences:

The Hawks - very efficient when forward, lots of disposals to set up their success, a few 'stars' in the mix. Genuine top 4

The umpires. My goodness, neither team would be happy. I was very cross (and expressing it) today!

The 'burst' Demons - IN a couple of bursts, we were pretty good. Not enough to win a game, but we were pretty good...

The 'schoolboy demons' - lots of silly errors, turnovers, bad decisions. Second to the ball.

Hope we grow up and play 4 quarters against top sides soon...

  6. Agents and leverage. Classic negotiation tactics (the old real estate "someone else is about to put down a deposit" trick). Good on Colin and his agent for having a go. I hope MFC are smart enough to know their maximum price for this player, and then get down to negotiation.

The last question is totally up to Colin - accept what the Dees offer in the end, or chase something else?

We will see more and more of these stories between now and the end of the year.

Wake me with the news of signing or defection.

  7. Cale has been dropped, hopefully with instructions. It seemed to work for Ricky Pettard, who has turned it around. Cale has enormous potential, some confidence in himself and some learning at Casey would serve him well. Traded? I see no link between being dropped on form / confidence and not having a place in the future MFC success plan. Lets see how it plays out.

  8. How about Jones in a shut-down role as back-up if Mackenzie doesn't crack it on Mitchell. The other to take Burguyne?

My concerns are the centre bounce: Jamar had lots of taps, but it seemed Port Adelaide KILLED us at the clearance for most of the match. We cant afford to do that against the Hawks. I would even play Stef #1 ruck and play Jamar forward - make it difficult for them to cover him and Watts.

I like the idea of manning up on the half backs with our half forwards to stop the switch. Make them play contested and lets see what happens to their short passing game.

We need to tackle our guts out and take risks.

Howe to start on the ground. Jetta in as sub. Morton - he needs some time at Casey to find some form.

  9. Out: Morton. He got in the contest, but it seemed every time he touched it, Port got a goal. Check Scully and others who don't pull up well after the conditions.

Ins: ?? - No mention of Davey At Casey (did I miss something?). No direct path to the firsts - needs to return via Casey and ensure he has fitness and touch.

  10. 0:4 or 1:3 would be about right. The one thing I thing would be great for the team is to be constent. Big losses should be unacceptable. Being competitive for most of the games, and even 'threatening' these sides would be great. Knocking off Carlton is the most likely chance for a victory. Would LOVE to see us beat the hawks.

  11. Howe the sub surprises me, Tassie boys are generally good in wet conditions....

Its often warm and moist in the map of Tassie!

  12. No one over the age of 60 has ever won a premiership as coach. This stat does not change the possibility that it could happen. The past is no predictor of the future.

If we think Bailey is not the man, Malthouse is staying in the dungheap for at least 12 months, then who is 'the man' (or woman) for the job? Age is not an issue - capability to get the best out of the young list and manufacture a flag-wining game plan is.
