"We find that there was little, if any, chance, that the MFC player would get a fair hearing." It is hard to read this balderdash with a straight face ....

Xerri: 3 weeks. May: 3 weeks. What???? You have to be kidding me!

Disappointing but expected. Both deserve suspension for mine.

POSTGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne
Agreed. Three weeks seems a little light given the act -- "careless" seems a generous grading to me.

Agreed about Tmac. The only vague justification I can summon is that there is more future in Lever than in Tmac. But on form, it is Tmac by the length of the straight...

Clarko's opinion on aggro in footy isn't worth the paper it is written on, especially when it is about one of his own players. I really hope we never have another injury in footy like poor Neil Schache, but [censored] like Clarkson and the commentary box parrots are creating an atmosphere in which this is increasingly likely, unfortunately.

How many weeks should Ben King get for his behind-the-play hit on Steven May? Note the question is how many he should get, not how many he will get...

Reminds me of the time yonks ago when John Kennedy was asked about umpiring after his team got the rough end of the pineapple one day. He said "Normally I say 'No comment'. Today I say 'Absolutely no comment whatsoever!'".

PODCAST: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
Lots of things rankle me about that result, but one that sticks in my craw more than most is that Moore IMHO should be cited for pushing Melksham into that contest with Howe. What do the panel think? Also, it seems we had the measure of the Pies running game for much of the match, just like the last quarter against Brisbane. If we can keep doing that, we will be in a lot more games this year. If only we could kick even a little bit straighter!

POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
I am not sure that is right. If you are holding the ball and the free is against you, you have to give it straight to the player indicated by the umpjire, or else it is 50. The problem with Kozzie's 50 was that he sort of had the ball while lying on the ground, which leaves some room for doubt.

Agreed. I recall thinking last year when he was at least able to walk around that it could be the last such appearance. Seeing him being wheeled around in the chair made it seem inevitable that we shouldn't expect him there any more. I felt a little choke when the Dees ran out and Gawn made a bee line for Danners, who was almost right below us (in our customary position in the Redlegs area behind the Punt Road goals). I am sure that will be in the "I was there when ..." moments in the future.

It won't happen of course, but shouldn't Moore be cited for pushing Melksham into that contest with Howe?

PODCAST: Rd 11 vs Sydney
Any comment on the length of the last quarter? Wasn't it almost 40 minutes? There were a lot of goals kicked plus the stoppage when Spargo was taken off for a concussion test, but it still seemed excessive. What is the record for the longest quarter (barring lightning delays and power outages)? Ironically, if the quarter was a couple of minutes shorter, we would have won by more ...

PODCAST: Rd 10 vs Brisbane
That was a win for the ages! One thing that stood out to me was our attitude and intensity, especially in the last quarter. We left a few goals out there, for sure, but we kept at it with plenty of second, third and fourth efforts as required, and if a mistake was made, we just kept on going without dropping our heads. It reminded me of our best a few years ago, when the last quarter was always ours, mainly due to intensity, pressure and 1%ers. With some tidier skills (including better goal kicking), we are not too far away from our win over Brisbane in the Qualifying final in '21 (a stretch I know, but a Demon can dream!).

PODCAST: Rd 08 vs West Coast
None of the following will be new to Dees fans, but the Melksham "incident" and related commentary gives me the irrits. Melksham goes for the ball, uses his body (not arms) and takes the mark. McGovern get bumped out of the way, and collides with Petty, who was dangerously pushed into the contest by Ginbey. But the West Coast parrots who pass for commentators reckon Melksham could be suspended? I was pleasantly suprised that Goody defended Melksham in the presser, and stated that he thought it was a mark to Melksham (ie not even a free kick) and that the reason for Petty's concussion needed to be equally scruntinised. What are your thoughts? And don't get me started on the high contact free and fifty to Viney which lead to a goal. Surely that is at least as worth of discussion? But of course it was a Melbourne player on the receiving end, so ... crickets.

C'mon Bub, the answer is right there in your question ... Eddie McMouth only seems to chip in when it seems there is something in it for the filth ... đ

PODCAST: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
High impact, no contact, intensional means it is classified as a fine rather than a suspension. Defence arguement of great bloke, first offence and a very large bunch of credits in the bank was accepted, meaning that the fine of 10 banana smoothies is imposed, but suspended pending any further offence before the next Demons victory or the KB game against the filth (whichever comes first). Any further offence resulting in a resoundingly famous Demons victory will result in it becoming as compulsory to the podcast as the theme tune ...
