  1. Sent to me. (By a Melbourne supporter, coincidentally.)
  2. Like this? (Funniest thing I've seen in ages...and I've never even watched Dr Who.)
  3. Thanks. Amusingly, when I do that the image becomes too big for the screen. Magnifies to about 125%. I know, some people are never satisfied...
  4. Don't know about others but when I "click to enlarge" I get a smaller version. It's the full article, but smaller.
  5. Could be worse. Might have ended up with the bogan on the right (note the additional props).
  6. The strange part of this decision for mine is the start time. By choosing to show the later starting game, 7 will automatically reduce the number of viewers available. While I prefer the later start, most families with children don't. It will probably only affect the number of neutral supporters who might watch, but I would have thought that is still significant. Presumably the decision-makers believe Essendon versus the most boring team to watch starting later is better than the flaky Demons versus the unpredictable Lions starting at a better time.
  7. From the top: ANB's hair Colin Garland's face Jesse Hogan's arms Jack Viney's body Michael Hibberd's kicking action
  8. "Game day activation opportunities". What magnificent language. I wonder what they might be? Displaying cars at the MCG entrances? Providing a car as a prize (perhaps not a "whole car" per se but the opportunity for someone in the crowd to take it home for a week)? Hand-ball competitions into open windows? The mind boggles with the range of "activation opportunities".
  9. Just as long as he's not in the rectus season group.
  10. Not sure whether a sore toe would be more painful in the foot kicking the ball or planted on the ground thereby taking the full weight. Presumably others on Demonland have experience and can advise.
  11. I'm not even sure anyone knows what Petracca's position actually is.
  12. I'd believe you if I had seen a player from another club training with ours.
  13. I wonder, though, whether the club thinks this is considered an "acceptable risk". In other words, the club thinks the attacking gameplan will score more goals than will be given up going the other way. As long as we score more than the opposition, I don't really care how they get their goals.
  14. I'll go out on a limb and suggest that Demonland is perpetuating fake news by using fake silhouettes.
  15. A good start to cliche season. Well done.
  16. Thanks for the clarification. I misunderstood and thought that the 7,000 new members were part of the 35K. My point, though, that holding on to old members should be easier than recruiting new ones still stands. It's customer service 101.
  17. So, on the other side of that same coin, if we're pretty close to last year's figure, that also means we must have about 7,000 new members. And that's about 20% of the current membership. That's impressive, although the non-renewal rate is equally unimpressive. The club needs to identify better ways to hold on to members - it should be easier to keep what you've got than continually finding new people to sign up.
  18. Having thought about this a bit more seriously, is it possible that this is all about re-introducing curtain raisers? It may be that various other bodies have to be consulted, including the VFL and other State leagues, the AFLW, ground managers, public transport operators, police, the clubs, concessions, etc and until each has been properly consulted and any issues of concern addressed, the AFL is not is a position to make such an announcement. If (and I accept it's a big if) that's the reason for describing it in indecipherable, inane language, then I can understand it. But if it's going to be music acts and marching bands, nah.
  19. This is disappointing. For the past 5 years or so everything Malthouse has said appears to be out of date, condescending and generally wrong. If he's now saying things that people agree with, my whole life is going to spin off its axis.
  20. Once you've done that, you can then work on "fan activation initiatives". I'm sure they're completely different things.
  21. Assuming the two with "test" against their names pass their test.
  22. I presume it's a new arrangement and recording of the old song. What interests me, though, is who owns the IP of the song? Does this mean the AFL rather than the clubs themselves owns the rights to each club's theme song?
  23. I see it differently, but with the same ultimate effect. Getting Lever freed Tom McDonald to go forward which made Watts redundant. So, in my view it seems that the Lever and Watts trades are intrinsically linked, but not because of the salary cap.
  24. Or, why should Facebook and Twitter be any different to traditional media? For example, why does Bauer Media get sued for publishing defamatory comments and Facebook and Twitter not?
