  1. I've heard it said that sometimes helmets can have a reverse effect, in that they can give the wearer a false sense of security so they take higher/more risks. Can't remember if this theory was for sports people or gen population cyclists. But is is widely accepted that helmets help prevent cuts and skull fractures but not concussion.
  2. Our most optimistic year for over a decade, well for some anyway. Cool vent Red. Way to go.
  3. As a result, I expect Pedo to have a break out season and to become a 6 month long avatar pic.
  4. Hunt should come play in a big white tennis headband. Didn't The Ox and Todd wear those? Retro round
  5. Does Emily have a list of possible replacements?
  6. Nice kid. Good prospect. Pity we'll be nowhere near pick 1 at the end of this year
  7. He might have them, but he won't have the only copy. No doubt the club and Dank have some or all the dirt. Btw, could there ever be a more appropriate name than 'Dank'?
  8. Yeah, I too find it hard to believe all these people who claim innocence and blame others yet don't reveal the records or any other info that might clear them. Dank, the Weapon, Bomber, Hird, the players etc. Can't have it both ways. BOMBER, IF YOU ARE INNOCENT THEN SHOW US WHAT YOU'VE GOT, ALL OF IT, OTHERWISE CRAWL BACK INTO YOUR HOLE AND SHUT UP!
  9. Sorry Biff. I forgot your are the king of pulling
  10. Don't necessarily disagree with your second point Mono. But their first 2 years are: 1st rounder $78k pa + match payments etc 2nd rounder $68k pa + 3rd rounder onwards $64k pa + Rookie $55k pa + Not necessarily big money for working 6 days pw when the average Aus wage is about $79k Having said that, a number 1 pick can potentially earn nearly $200k pa. But there are an awful lot of 3rd, 4th, 5th rounders and rookies on AFL lists not getting games. I guess I'm trying to bust the myth that all AFL players are rolling in cash and can spring able bodied into any reasonable occupation after their grand 4 game career ends. I know a few who certainly couldn't.
  11. I'm offended..... that Biffen didn't give me a toke
  12. I was told about a year ago by an ex AFL player that the average games played per player is about 4. Happy to be corrected by someone with better stats. Agree completely deanox
  13. Storm in a tea cup again. Ho hum. I hear Chunk is facing a heafty fine for leaving the toilet seat up
  14. Some AEU covered teachers are going for 20%. Just sayin'...
  15. Does your career only last for about 10 years (actually, I believe the AFL average is around the 4 game mark), include countless workplace injuries and your body is generally shot at the end? Not to mention lack of training for life atfer footy. Whilst I do think the players and AFLPA are being overly ambitious, I don't think comparisons to the average punter's job are necessarily valid. It's a unique and unreal industry. I'm not sure what the result should be, but I know ex players who have been chewed up and spat out with little prospects afterwards.
  16. Yes, and someone hid his change in font size, color, style buttons. Same content though.
  17. That big mark he took at the front of the pack against Carlton (I think) gave a taste of what he's capable of. Has a good reach and good hands.
  18. Ok then... Was I quoting you or challenging what you posted? Btw, it's happened twice unsuccessfully in my workplace in 2 years. That why I posted.
  19. In any workplace, the employer has the right to take a general vote directly to the employees, bypassing the union. Make a reasonably modest offer greater than what they have now, hold off for as long as necessary, put in place aggressive PR, then go for a general vote without the union. Sometimes people take a piece of cake instead of waiting for the whole cake to be offered. Bartlett is an IR specialist, he knows exactly what he's doing.
  20. Weid needs patience and support. He'll make it. Needs more muscle and further development both at Casey and in the seniors. Has good hands, tries to position himself well at the front of packs (despite getting outbodied), has a good set shot routine and can kick well either foot. Weid wont be the competative beast that Hogan is, probably wont have the tank to do what he does, but he compliments Hogan well. Weid's strengths will be his leading patterns, reach and good hands, and goal awareness. Looking forward, I'd rather have him than Paddy.
  21. Oops. Uncle Bitters' missus is available to phone in this week if you need gender balance, of sorts...
