PREGAME: Rd 02 vs Fremantle
I think it is importantly to remember that this was the first official game of the year for us. Players will always be a bit rusty, and there was no doubt Jake made an absolute Clanger whilst kicking inside the centre square. However, my memory of his kicking is that generally pretty good. I have tried to do an analysis of his kicking efficiency using AI and statistics. This is the result Career Kicking Accuracy: His career kicking efficiency generally hovers around the 80% mark. There is little doubt psychologically that our impressions are skewed by recent clangers, and ignore more solid facts.

PRESEASON TRAINING: Monday 8th December 2025
First time at training his morning. Took a bit of time to work out new recruits and numbers. 2 halves match simulation- Mihocek and Rooey look good. Rivers moves very well through midfield contests. Latrelle has some magic. Heard Kingy say- why wouldn’t you give it too him? Steele looks very solid. One issue. I thought on set shots kicking to goal, often misses were associated with having to lean back because forwards were getting in too close to man on mark. We have some talented players, and I was encouraged by more of an attempt to look for passes into the forwards, rather than the bombing in of the last few years. Hopefully this carries forward into the forthcoming season. Let’s keep our fingers crossed with our new coaching team bringing some success!

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
Good win by the team yesterday. Thanks to Libba jnr for stirring up Max after his errant handball in the first quarter attempting to keep the ball in play in the Doggies forward pocket. Great goals by Nibbler. He’s our gut runner. Hope BBB’s knee stands up for the season. Windsor has been likened to the great Petal Flower- at this stage perhaps over optimistic. But, his pace and run and smarts do draw comparison with Stan Alves. McVee recalls Alan Johnson with his skills. Trent Rivers continues to improve, and I agree may have a role higher up the ground. Clayton seems to me to require to just be playing football to keep his mind off possible outside influences. Long term injury was difficult for him last year. Look forward to next week’s effort against the Hawks.

Robbie Flower: 20 Great Goals
The reason for watching the Dees at their lowest ebb. When he died,I remember hearing Doug Hawkins in tears in his admiration for his skills. If I remember correctly, he was used at CHF in one game for the big V, despite being skin and bones, such were his prodigious skills!
