saw these guys at Groovin the moo - didnt know much about them but they were great - i love any band where they can lift the whole drum stand - including the drummer - into the audience and have him drumming on top of the crowd.

Memo is owned by the same bloke as Caravan - it is a truly beautiful old room. Hardtack and I went and saw the reformed Sports there last year - it was a great gig. I have seen plenty of gigs there as well. The acoustics are great and you will really like the place. Parking in StKilda is the only problem. The one venue of this ilk that leaves me a little cold is the flying saucer club in Elsternwich - again - used to be owned by the same bloke. I find with the very low ceiling the acoustics are ordinary and you can hear everyone talking over the music. I love Stephen Cummings - and will be seeing him in a short while at the Caravan Club - but you are right about him - I book tickets not knowing was Stephen Cummings will turn up. When he is good he is really really good ( but I have seen him a couple of times when he was in his own world)

This is what they were referring to in your clip - from one of my all time fav's - the original in laws.

I am a Caravan Club devotee and have seen RM there a few times. I love Russell Morris - if he never played his old stuff again I wouldn't care - his last two albums are absolutely fantastic. (for those who don't know he has been writing music with Australian history themes.

I'll do a bit of big noting. I was in Spain last year. We went the "water gardens of Dorne" which is the Alcazar in Seville which was magnificent but even more interesting was our trek to Girona an hour and a bit outside Barcelona. A lot of the filming for GOT is done there and they were filming at the time we were there. A lot of the town was cyclone fenced with black fabric so you couldn't see through. The local residents were paid twice the value of any inconvenience to film - so if a TV aerial had to come down - they would pay for aerial going down and going up again and then the same amount again for the approximate cost of doing so. They were also paid 200 euro a day to keep their windows shut. We had a lunch at a local cafe and enquired how much extra money the filming had brought in and he said not a cent. The actors were not allowed off the enclosed area for as much as coffee as they didnt want people to know in the upcoming season who was alive and who wasn't. I asked our guide if Jon Snow was alive or dead - she said dead so I am guessing she didn't know.

Big rumours going around is that Sansa is preggers by Ramsey...ewww If I was Jon I would be more than a little unhappy with Sansa - if he had known that Little Finger was coming surely his plan may have been different ? Obviously Sansa knew as she was on her gee gee right next to Little Finger. Also Rickon - you are a d!ck - have you not heard of zig zagging ? Also Ramsey was looping arrows up in the air at him for a significant distance - surely you could turn around and look at him firing at you and see where the arrow is going. An arrow from the distance he was shooting , looping, you could take evasive action by watching the single arrow coming at you.( couldn't you ?)

Apocalyptica are playing in Melbourne in September - I will be away unfortunately. They are 3 cello players and a drummer doing metal. I have seen them before and they absolutely go off live - their live videos don't do them justice

Saw them at the last Soundwave ( or second last ) - lord or lord - they sent women's issues back to the stone age. But as you say - no surprises so if you are going to be offended don't go. A question though Rjay - did you show them your boobies ?

Sansa reminds me of the current crop of pollies we have in this country - full of self importance but when you dissect what they actually say - you think to yourself "WTF???"

here is my conspiracy theory - have you ever seen Stannis Baratheon and Daniel Cross in the same room ? Have you ? have you ? hmmmm.....
  15. It was boring but Audrey Hepburn doing that thrashing guitar solo on that stratocaster during "moon river" is epic.(seriously - I have no problem if you can't play the guitar but why on earth would you put one in her hand ??)

much better episode last night... We have a cat at home who is a piece of work - will bite and swipe for no reason whatsover - a mean little mofo - we have renamed him Ramsey Bolton
  18. I was going to make this best and worst film of all time but picking the best film is too hard. But the bad ones stick out like dogs balls. Of the current crop which absolutely polarised people - "Tree of Life " with Brad Pitt/Sean Penn..... ( kill me...kill me now)

you know nuthing H_T. I judge people who do not watch this ! It is a fantastic show - read all the books and besides watching copious quantities of sport, it is the only non sport program that i must religiously watch. For the opening night of every season we have a game of thrones feast ( yes ..there is a GOT cookbook) and this season i made roast swan - which was actually turkey but lets keep that our secret.....

Well.. i saw something that i didn't think i would ever see. Saw the Brewster Brothers on Saturday night and it was about 2/3's music and the other third a "narrator" asking them questions. They covered their beginnings all the way through to present. Rick Brewster spent his whole Angels carreer wearing the dark glasses and standing like a statue playing guitar - zero facial expressions. John Brewster talked about their beginnings and they started life in a jug band ! With that the two brothers jumped off the stage with John playing guitar and Rick playing the washboard and (and harmonising vocals) jumping around banging on his washboard totally out of control. As they finished a couple of songs. Rick just announced to the crowd " bet you never thought you'd see Rick Brewster doing that !" - he was dead right.
  21. I must be missing something... I actually don't understand the argument on Hall, Lynch,Hunter, Dawes and Cloke. If anything they actually prove you point ( excepting Dawes and Hunter). Hall in his premiership year (2005) took a massive 206 marks and kicked 80 goals ! He was AA, and AFLCA player of the year (2nd in their B&F) Lynch in his premiership year (2006) took 143 marks and kicked 65 goals ( 7th in their B&F) Cloke took a whopping 171 marks in his premiership year of 2010 and kicked 38 goals but also kicked 40 behinds Hunter still kicked 29 goals in their premiership year but was a swingman at both ends of the ground Dawes was second fiddle to Cloke and he still kicked 30 goals for the year. Big power forwards like Hall, Lynch, Jono Brown, Franklin, Roughead and Hawkins have been instrumental in getting their teams premierships.
  22. I did the school boy giggle every time i heard the head of WADA's name mentioned - Dick Pound
  23. My mate calls me two-diks as he is adamant that I couldn't be that stupid with just one.

Same them last time around - they were great - played for almost 3 hours - ( Robert Smith has never worn shorts nor has ever felt sand between his toes). I am going to an interesting gig on Saturday night - The Brewster Brothers ( Angels ) are doing a introspective, talking about their journey and in particular the journey of the Angels , interspersed with film clips and some documentary stuff and a little bit of live acoustic music from them. Should be great.
  25. Interesting article in the Herald Sun this morning - Scott Cummings and Glenn Jakovich stating that the constant travel took a year or two off their careers. Jakovivch talked about a couple of players who started at the same time as him getting two extra years through not travelling as much as they were Melbourne based. Both said that the travel burden was less than ideal on their bodies and the article referenced Jesse's back stress fractures. Scott Cummings suggested that if Jesse was to move he would need to have a "business class" travel clause in his contract.
