Back on topic now..... Looks like I got that wish. Go Swannies!

No. They are going at those established coaches. No one can criticize the club for not facing a crack- they're having a red hot go at these blokes. But if Lyon declines. Bomber stays and Malthouse doesn't coach then what is your suggestion? As I said in my OP, that is when they then go at these assistants. But you seem to want something to appear out of mid air- perhaps Norm Smith? Checker Hughes? Ease off the drink and think!
-
Are you drunk? What the he'll are you on about? Clarkson re-signed. Malthouse won't be coaching next year. And it is known they're having a big crack at Lyon. If he decides to stay at St Kilda what do you propose. They have explored every option possible with the top line senior coaches and have had a red hot crack at them but honestly what is your proposal should Lyon decline? Thompson I doubt will go anywhere. Who then? The next best available coaches are the senior assistants. Edit: clarkson was an assistant who became a premiership coach first time. Ross Lyon was only an assistant before 3 Gf's. Thompson too (and he took 7 years to get the first one) The Scott brothers..... Again what is the point of your post?

Want Sydney to win tonight to end St Kilda's season so that the Ross Lyon situation can be resolved sooner rather than later. We can either lock him in by the end of the next week or so or rule him out and go hard at Neeld, Sanderson, Burns and co.

Really disagree with the first part of this comment. It is very inaccurate and frankly shows a lack of appreciation of what is going on. To say the defence gets "found out" is ignorant. The manner in which Frawley, Garland, Rivers, MacDonald, Bail, Strauss, Grimes, Tappy and Blease functioned throughout the year is actually pretty good. The amount of balls they spoil, rebound or force a 50/50 is a credit to them when you consider how often the ball is pumped in there. No defensive unit in the league would perform much better with the amount of inside 50's Melbourne concedes, and especially with the ease at which at times other clubs can deliver into the 50 from both general play and centre clearances. Until our mids and forwards develop stronger bodies and learn to apply the requisite pressure for a full game, we will struggle against the top teams and they will continue to smash us for inside 50's. The defence is the best part of our team. There is no "finding them out".

I'm just posting this bit of information I found because I think it is funny to extract the urine from belzebub...... "Yep congratulations are in order to you guy's I have just heard on very good authority, from someone from gws he has turned down the gws offer. I don't know when this will be confirmed but gws were hoping to have a presser on tuesday but were informed at 4.30 this afternoon that he will not be taking up the offer. I can see the egg on faces now, anyway congratulations if that's the young man's wishes I respect him" -
Beat me to it RR. And there is NAFC he will be there.

Amazing how perceptions differ. Didn't think much of what Gary said was overly interesting. He said it would hopefully be sooner rather than later but that they hadn't narrowed down to 1 or 2 yet and it was unlikely to be ratified before next week So in summary, still interviewing, no public announcement (officially) at least for another week or two.

My last line may have come across as a shot at Bruce but it actually wasn't- i actually do congratulate Bruce on his career (and Brock for that matter although as I said I think he will continue at GWS if not CFC)
-
I would find it hard to believe that GWS wouldn't take McLean if he was de-listed or up for trade. If for nothing else than experience at still a relatively young age. Bruce is done and dusted after this year i believe. He really is only depth at Hawthorn and with their young blokes coming on i doubt he will be around after October. If that is the case well done on your career Brucey.

Re-signed for sure. Still very much a required player with much upside and i think a new coach will do him the world of good.

I have always been in the don't know camp but trusting of the words of Tom rather than the conspiracy theories, rumor and innuendo camp.

First Melbourne based club with a pick in the PSD maybe?
-
I took the draft AND trade option as Warnock has already stated he wants to be traded meaning we will be involved in trade week at least to some degree.

This is your problem. You want a team of stars rather than a star team. Players train and play the way they have been drilled. If you cannot see that much of this seasons problems came down to bad years for our senior players and a poor game plan the you are truly blind. Give me a coach who has a game plan that does not collapse under the slightest hint of pressure and who can instill a harder edge on the young blokes and you will see a vastly different outfit. -
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - 2011 Season Wrap Edition
Grandson of a gun replied to Striker475's topic in Melbourne Demons
Wow Robbie. You have actually lost the plot. The leaders go missing or are injured and you expect this club to be carried by 18 18-20 year olds and be able to match it. If you are going to fly off the handle at least have some realistic expectation or idea of where we were this year. Go have a drink and take a deep breath -

I have come to the realisation now that you are a lost cause. You bleat and whinge about everything possible but are noticably absent when you are asked to back up your statements or facts are produced that contradict you. Your posts are so ridiculously over the top pessimistic I actually feel sorry for you and hope it is not a reflection of your life as a whole. Disappointing season yes. Step backwards yes. The MFC world according to RobbieF has ended. There is no hope. We will wither up and die. Spare all of us please Robbie. -
Lyon if released from contract. Neeld otherwise.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - 2011 Season Wrap Edition
Grandson of a gun replied to Striker475's topic in Melbourne Demons
Actually Robbie, I would say that the season was horrible but it was primarily due to the terrible seasons had by the leaders. Green. Davey. Grimes gone early. Riv and Sylvia being up and down. Jamar injured/playing injured. Moloney going flat while Jamar out. Frawley injured. Last year these blokes all had fantastic years. This year, with even less mature players and physical strength they weren't at the same level which heaped more pressure on our very young, very inexperienced kids and we were slaughtered at times because of it. That i feel (and the game plan) are the primary reasons we took a step backwards this year.
