  1. If we trade away pick three to another club. Are we still entitled to pick viney with our next 'non-compensation pick' ie our second round pick. Or is that somehow breaking the draft rules?

Yeah I flipped through this thread, despite a lot of arrogance shown to those who don't understand it I don't think anyone shared a link.

    http://www.afl.com.au/tabid/208/default.aspx?newsid=66411

Basically anyone who wants Viney or any other draftee that is a potential under the Father/Son rule has to nominate him prior to Trade week. They are then obligated to use that pick.... So if GWS say we'll use pick 1 on him, we then have to say we want him in which case we are obliged to use pick 3 and cannot trade it, or we can tell them no thanks in which case GWS has to use pick 1 on him and we can do what we like with pick 3.

If the earliest bid on him is after Pick 3 by any club we have to use our next pick (Second round)

People feel free to correct me if that's not accurate.

  2. I'd say go for the Tahs. But I'm biased, played for them as a Junior.

Got to get used to the Swans colours, but their Home ground is close to the City, so saves you driving out to the Northern Suburbs / Palmerston for your home games. Having said that you won't be driving, all you do up North is drink beer.

Haven't won since 99/00 so we are due, but then again so are the Demons!

  3. Little P*ssed off but so be it. Don't hate the kid, I'd struggle to reject an offer like that. He probably could have done it better, thought he could have let Stynes in so he didn't haven't stick his neck out defending him.

Would have fuelled speculation even further with Jimmy not commenting on the matter, but we got an overload of 'theories' anyway.

  4. "As I drove in today, I was listening on the radio about how clubs were going to go after Mick Malthouse and Melbourne this and Melbourne that and all the rest of it," McGuire said at an MCG function before the Essendon game.

"Let me just say it once - Mick Malthouse is contracted to the Collingwood Football Club and we're an $85 million business these days, we're not mucking around.

    ...

    F*&k off Eddie

  5. Anonther disappointing replay to watch over here in Europe. I don't think Frawley gets enough air time in these threads. F*ing legend, favourite player by far another stellar job down back. Needed more from Watts and can't wait to see Davey back in the side.

  6. Awesome win!! At the Walkie in London watching the game, only a couple of Dons supporters there though!

Was thoroughly impressed with the effort tonight, crappy thing is I'm now back at work instead of enjoying another pint!

  7. what an idiot, he could of just gone on pokerstar's or 888 and not been caught by the media. now can i lend a few bucks, i swear im better then this guy, he just got lucky with a 7 and hit his 7, i had a q.

Clearly haven't had a problem yourself. Gambling with other addicts around feels like company, hard to believe I know. No one wants to be sitting at home doing it (well some do, probably not Fev)

Having said that, little sympathy for the guy. Wake up and sort yourself out, plenty of others do without the opportunities you have.

  8. I concur.

Wish we had worn the Clash jumper the other night though, it was very obvious that our players mistook Essendon players for our own.

Not the right thinking, let the clashes happen then maybe someone in the AFL will grow a pair of testicles and stand up to Essendon.

** From that pic, I think it looks good.

  9. Won me over.

Looks OK, Schwab knocks it on the head in the video

, I don't think anyone will love it, but it's good for the kids to get the signatures on and AFL has imposed it on us. The Navy Blue stripes are great, and the fact that they kept it simple. I've hated the away strips the last couple of years, I might be able to get on board with this.

But I do hope MFC strongly pursue the cause to wear Navy shorts whenever possible and kick up a stink whenever one of the 'Big' clubs try and force us to wear the sh*tty white while we are at home!

    Well done guys.

  10. So there is talk about the draft already, which I admit will be quite interesting. I'm just curious do the other clubs put as much emphasis on the draft as Melbourne? Richmond have been a rubbish team for quite a while, do they talk year in year out about their draft picks? (I haven't actually perused any Richmond Fan sites.... Are there any?)

"But in terms of our ladder position at the moment, if that was to be maintained, we would have a top 12 pick. If you have a top 12 pick in any draft - that’s a good result."

--- I'd prefer to win a few more games this year and get a later pick to be honest.

  11. I hope they continue it. I think if the Demons want to enter an arragnment of selling home games somewhere Darwin is the place where they will get the most support.

I use to live in Darwin, then Brisbane. Forget QLD, AFL will always be second there, I copped heaps and had huge difficulties finding a Pub that would even change from a Foxtel Rugby replay to a live Demons game, I'd often find myself sitting in a shitty corner of the Exchange watching it with no sound.

I think if the match was played a month later, there would be no chance of a suprise humidity hit and then all this talk of "taking it out of the players" would be greatly reduced. The NT Thunder team travel from Darwin to Brisbane and back all season.

Anyway will be interesting to follow the developments. Western Bulldogs and Port aren't going to be as vigurously followed by the NT Government. Most people in Darwin dislike both Adelaide teams, I went to a Port/Bulldogs game and didn't see any Port Adelaide flags around. I honestly thought the only team that could get any support in Darwin was Essendon, but I was told the support for the Dees at the Darwin game was huge.
