A well written and presented article by Tom - it will be interesting to see whether his playing style will be different next year, for better or for worse. And without excusing his actions in any way at all, I wonder if the AFL will ever crack down on those niggling elbows to the kidneys and the guts off the play that we see every week, especially before the ball is bounced. I can only remember one being penalised - of course against MFC to CarlTank resulting in their first or maybe their second goal. It is ugly and does result in what could almost be described as reflex actions with occasional serious outcomes.

Undoubtedly he has talent and at his best would enhance any team: unfortunately as has been discussed at length, getting the best consistently out of talent isn't one of the MFC's strong points so I really don't know if he would be a good get. But it does sound as if he needs a change of club.

But we all know that AFL coaching contracts are not worth the paper they are printed on. If Buckley continues to underperform he will go, contract or not.

The guy was picked by our club, he gave his best, and showed some glimpses early on. To refer to him as "an absolute dud" is insulting and IMO is more a reflection on the poster than the player.
