  1. Nailed it.
  2. Its a nice problem to now have, but as with the Cats and the Tiges, we are now at a time where the players need to decide if they want less money to stay together and become a dynasty, or not. Its up to them really and time will tell. I suspect we won't lose anyone short of a jesse Hogan-type scenario where compelling personal reasons override staying. The upside is that key players have "come home" to us - Lever, Langdon, May(sort of - ex Melb Grammar boy so knows the city). But the engine room - Gawn, Viney Petracca and Oliver are rock solid. Who wouldn't want to play with them - unless you can't get a regular game?
  3. Excellent suggestion, and execllent move for Gus to Half back. Centreline: Flower - Oliver/Petracca - Langdon. Wow!
  4. Many on here refer to how "...good so and so would be oppsoite Ed Langdons wing...". (esp Robbie F) We have the Robbie Flower wing (MCC side) at the G, but at games we now talk about the Ed Langdon wing (AFL Stand side). He's made it his own, and as he's admitted as he doesn't come off during games he doesn't need to play on the side closer to the bench. Good for efficiency of team rotations too.
  5. Flower was consistently brilliant in State games , esp with the talent around him (which only amplified his class) So Imagine how good he would be in this 2021 Flag side. Pencil him in for the Norm Smith.
  6. If true, this is good to hear. You wonder about CD doing a sense check of their analysis. It must occur to them the flaws now apparent. Would they be now thinking if they've kicked an own goal marketing - wise? Usually there's outrage on these sites when the list come out like Robbo's or Sheehan's, but they are subjective anyway and good for initiating arguments. CD are the opposite, portraying these as facts, the data doesn't ie, etc, etc,....... Highlights maybe their limited programming expertise.
  7. Yet another example now of a premiership team never starting the next season with the exact same lineup. Good luck to harry and once again what a great time to have depth.
  8. The key disconnect simply put Jaded. Champion Data's algoritms are flawed, depending what you are looking for. This list is interesting but the exceptions highlight it's uselessness. I guess someone is paying them to produce this but I have no idea why and would wonder who is the client that uses this info and for what purpose. I assume they will produce a list based on team performanace eventually pre-season which will be of interest.
  9. My thoughts execactly. Yes Dorothy - it was all a dream. Gawd help the Competion when Max becomes elite this year. Salem not mentioned - sheeesh!
  10. Yes and more. Cats supporters will rightly now be saying that scott hasn't learnt anything from their umpteenth finals failure. They will dodge reality of an ageing list. I would be concerned as a cats Board member. 2021 repeat coming up. Or....it wasnt my fault.
  11. When May went down in the Prelim , boy was I glad we had Hibbo roaming in defence. Thoroughly deserved Premiership medal.
  12. Yes, and he was super confident in his pre-game on the couch show tipping Dees by 4 goals.
  13. Fair enough. Could be right. No team -winning GF plays together in Game 1 next season so likely soemone will go out. I watched a few of last season's games this week of significance, esp the big ones like with the cats, Tiges and bombers. I saw Hunt break up many attacks and rebound well with Langers. Personally I hope he is on the ground for the flag raising in 5 1/2 weeks time.
  14. Leaving who out then?
  15. We're lucky enough to have a coach that has participated in back to backs as a player (excl M Voss/J McCrae/Mitchell who I treat as a newby senior coaches way outside the Flag window) . I asked the question about what he learnt from that experience then that will help him/the Club now to achieve the 2022 flag.
  16. Just for fun I looked at the 1980 and 1981 Tigers sides . That 81 point thrashing of the Pies is simiiar to Dees effeort in 2021. There were 2 absentees from the 1980 team that played in Round 1, 1981. Bruce Monteath and Stephen Mount. Replaced by Paul Sarah and Bruce Tempany. Paul Sarah joined Tiges in 1980 for 11 games from the Cats but was dropped or injured in prelim so missed GF team. (maybe similiar to Hunt for us ) and Tempany similair story. 16 games and played all finals except GF. Both back in for Round 1, 1981. Monteath retired or left Tiges after GF so 1 spot became available from 1981 start. Stephen Mount lost his spot, but got back in in Round 3 but never cemented a spot and retired 1982, after Round 15, his only game for the year in which he got 2 kicks. Went interstate for more opportunities.
  17. And after the Dees, Alves played a blinder in the 77 GF for the Roos , with a huge star jump off the stage after he received his medal. Took Wayne Gordon to the cleaners that day. Top 10 for mine.
  18. I agree completely with your post, except for the last sentence. No-one burnt seems to infer its still ok to leak medical information, against the rules, in this case as Travis hasn't suffered. Next time someonewill/may be hurt. My experience was of an impeccable source telling me a secret regarding a senior Australian politician, leading to corruption, that would/will never come out until that person's passing. Done to impress me at the time. I just can't stand that sort of stuff. It still diminishes Travis' reputation to that of an underachiever and maybe we now know why, when he could have been so much more. Go Dees for Back - to - Back
  19. I agree he was a class player all over. But.... more consistent in a better team maybe. The AFL drug code/results are confidenetial nationwide between player and Doctor. Not even club are allowed to know unless its strike 3. As I said , so much for that process and Lethal's view of Diretcor Code of Conduct anyway. An interesting story .
  20. No need for the exclamation marks 58er. I was just querying this massive breach of trust and/or the AFL rules governing the drug testing protocol. But like everything else, nothing is confidential unless no-one else knows the info. Once another party knows anyhting its in serious risk of making it intothe public domain one way or another if its juicy enough. And this from an AFL Club Director. So much for Board confidentiallity at the Lions.
  21. Are we meant to believe that Lethal told a complete stranger of an AFL players 'confidential' drug test status???????
  22. Great comments on these two - Salem and Robbo. I loved Robbo but gee was always calling out 'keep your feet'. Salem never falls over. Salem cements his status with a killer final series last season. One player most oppo coaches go to work on. Never succeed. reverse the order on these two IMO
  23. Thanks for the fantastic work on this Deespicable. I would just like to acknowledge that No 26 , - Jacko -, I think also holds the all-time AFl/VFL record for the quickest first 50 career goals which he did in hist inaugural season with us.. Done in his first 9 games, of which one game (his first was goaless) . At 71 Goals 57 behinds for the season, imagine what might have been with better accuracy, or was this a sign of trying the impossible shot too many times.
  24. Your post demonstrates how far the club - and supporters - have come in 2021. The above statement would seem ridiculous several years ago, and maybe even in 2020. But now a perfectly reasonable ambition, and a good chance of occurring. Maybe the Dees are the only club currently placed to hold such a possible target. A huge swathe of the 2021 GF team will still be only half to 3/4 the way through their careers, and Trac, Oliver, Petty, Fritsch, Spargo, Jackson, Lever , Langdon, Sparrow and Jordan (50% of the Premiership players) will be hardened 25 to 30 year olds. Max will be the newly appointed and recently retired great and Ruck coach in 2027. Remind the site of this post Durango around late August I'd say with confidence.
  25. Lyon has said it wasn't widely used. His father Peter won the Soccer pools and Garry's teammates asumed he was getting a cut which he says didn't come his way. I stood next to his dad at the 88 Gf. Lovely person and very proud of his then 21 yearold son. Wore a demons scarf depsite being an ex-hawk player. On an earleir comment on Danny Huges in the 88 GF - he actually took the opening centre bounce, and generally was ineffective. He sure was in thta opneing contest, trying to run through Dear. against Greg Dear. Jimmy was clear BOG for the Dees that day.
