A small thought in 2009 Knights got the bombers into an elimination final and they got belted. From that point on he was on borrowed time at the Bombers, he could not coach was the cry. Well a certain Mr. Hird has just accomplished the same feat with a very similar team in 2011. Wonder when he will start to get the blame. Obviously cannot coach!

Add the Geelong v Hawthorn game to that list Redleg and you have my list of my games from the weekend. The overpowering feeling I had was that we have a very long way to go. The winners from the matches I saw were all top four sides and we are 13th. That about covers it. Over the last week I have become a little philosophical. I am used to my team being in this position in September. Will he stay or go? Another new coach to be appointed but who? Who will be given the DCM? Which skinny kid will we draft? Will the Admin. gets its act together? Yep sounds like most Septembers at the MFC. I don't like it but what can I do about it? Bugger all really! So just one short wish. "Please let it be different in 2012" And what's running this week? Did you get the banana smoothie?

I think the mantle of the young leader at the MFC has now been officially been given to JT. Noticed he was the presenter of the "100% Melbourne" video. Seems an easy decision to me, best young player by a country mile, loyal seems a nice kid and comes over very well. The Vice captainsy looks a shoe in to me

Actually Redleg I am absolutely over the whole thing, life goes on. As for messrs Prendergast and Harrington only if he turns into a flyer down the track. Guys in their jobs are probably fairly steely, win some lose some. Bit like horses mate, some win and others carry children around at horse clubs. By the way, why do the good ones break down but the donkeys run around forever?

Heard Michael Nettlefold from the saints on the SEN this morning. He said they would lose $1.3 million this year. Came in after the start but I thought he said $900 000 was due to playing at ES. He said every year it is like writing a cheque for that amount and posting it to Collo. This is in spite of having 40 000 members, being up near the top of the ladder the last three years and playing in the last 3 GF's. Also said they are way down on FD spending etc. compared to richer clubs. They believe they run a tight ship. Said they would be asking the AFL to play all their home games at G next year. Won't happen but they do not have a contract to play at ES since the "new Deal" a couple of years ago. That surprised me. So how are the likes of the Dees, Dogs, Port and North supposed to compete? Seems like surviving in the future will be hard let alone winning a flag. Perhaps finishing 13th and not making a loss might be a bigger achievment than I thought. Still feels sh--y!

Well it is finally out, most of you out there are cupboard contributors! Hiding away in darkened rooms living a secret life on the Demonland site. Shame on you all. Now is the time to "Come Out"! It is not that hard and you will feel liberate when you do. Just tell your loved ones for a start it is not that hard. This is the best I have felt in 2 months! 36 hours after the Port game it occured to me that I do not have to worry about: - the injury list - team selection - will the coach have a clue this weekend - will Davey final spark up - will the captain have a good game - do we have any chance of winning this weekend. Now I have 4 -5 months of Freedom from worry it is all hope and delusion of a great 2012 before reality sets in around April 2012. Have a good day guys!

Well I guess that brings another wonderful season by the MFC to an end. And what a wonderful year it was. We played on average a lot worse than 2010, 6 - 9+ goal losses vs 2 in 2010. We got thrashed by the age old enemy. We went into the record books with a 186 point belting. We sacked a coach during the year. We ended the season with losses to Richmond and Port. Our Captain was next to useless for the majority of the year and the vice captain could not make the side for the last round through poor form. At the finish 13th on the ladder. Yes all in all a wonderful year. But in true Demon fashion there is always next year and the next year and the next year and the next year!
